Same questions for Oliver. ;) |

Same questions for Oliver. ;) Same answers... again. "Electronic" makes even more sense for Oliver than for Ian, but it's still not a plain yes. |

Does this occur in the real world at all? or just cyberspace/wherever? |

Does this occur in the real world at all? or just cyberspace/wherever? the "cyberspace" in which this occurs is, in a sense, a part of the real world. However, nothing relevant happens elsewhere in the real world. I hope that answers your question! |

Is this a Matrix type situation? No, it's not that kind of virtual world. It's something much simpler. |

Is this a simulation of some sort? Are Ian and Oliver self-aware? Sentient? Are the controlled by a computer? Do they themselves exist tangiably? Or are they created by some machine, ie a computer, as a string of 1s and 0s? I died...? Why did no one tell me that...? |

Is this a simulation of some sort? yesish Are Ian and Oliver self-aware? yes Sentient? yes Are the controlled by a computer? yesish Do they themselves exist tangiably? no Or are they created by some machine, ie a computer, as a string of 1s and 0s? YES I died...? Why did no one tell me that...? I'm telling you now, OK? |

Are Ian and Oliver simulations of humans? Are they a program? Or something made by a program? Are they on the same computer? Could this occur in our present time with our present technology? Did Ian die from what would be considered natural causes within the simulation? (ie. virtual starvation, virtual suffocation, etc?) Or did he die because of some error on the computer? Like a power outage? Or a crash? Did Oliver know that Ian existed? Did he know that Ian had died? Did they communicate in any way? Did Ian know that Oliver existed? |

Are Ian and Oliver simulations of humans? no Are they a program? yes Or something made by a program? yope Are they on the same computer? yes Could this occur in our present time with our present technology? not that I know of Did Ian die from what would be considered natural causes within the simulation? (ie. virtual starvation, virtual suffocation, etc?) FA - it's not that kind of simulation Or did he die because of some error on the computer? Like a power outage? Or a crash? nothing like this Did Oliver know that Ian existed? yes Did he know that Ian had died? yes Did they communicate in any way? not communicate exactly Did Ian know that Oliver existed? irrelevant |

is the term "Mind" key? If Oliver has a mind he must be human, or controlled by a human? Was Ian a deram and Oliver woke up? |

Are one of the two, or both, artificial intelligence? If Oliver hadn't existed in the first place, would Ian still have died? |

No because Ian wouldn't have been there? Wouldn't have existed? Or because whatever caused Ian to die wouldn't have been there, or wouldn't have occured? Did Oliver create Ian? Did Ian create Oliver? |

Could either Ian or Oliver live without an electrical power source? Are they stored on the hard disk, or RAM? Is Oliver the computer? He let his CPU wander to other tasks, and so the program "Ian" died? (Quit?) Or Oliver used his processing to other means, killing Ian? Does Oliver feel emotions? Does Ian? Would Oliver be upset that Ian died? Could Oliver easily 'create' another Ian to replace him? Is Oliver a Program? A file? An Operating system? A networking program? An application? Ditto for Ian? Is the entity that created Oliver relevant? Is Oliver a program for creating robots? Could Ian still exist if Oliver stopped existing? |

Could either Ian or Oliver live without an electrical power source? no Are they stored on the hard disk irrel, or RAM? yes Is Oliver the computer? no but... He let his CPU wander to other tasks, and so the program "Ian" died? (Quit?) not exactly Or Oliver used his processing to other means, killing Ian? FA I think Does Oliver feel emotions? yes but irrel Does Ian? yes but irrel Would Oliver be upset that Ian died? probably not Could Oliver easily not necessarily 'create' another Ian to replace him? but yes Is Oliver a Program? this A file? An Operating system? and this-ish A networking program? An application? Ditto for Ian? program Is the entity that created Oliver relevant? no Is Oliver a program for creating robots? no but otrt Could Ian still exist if Oliver stopped existing? NO |

Did Ian get deleted from RAM, because Oliver needed to store some other stuff there? Did Oliver start sending other tasks to the computers processor, thus eliminating any time spent on Ian, thus killing him? Did Oliver intentionnaly kill Ian? Was it a mistake? So Ian is like a macro within Oliver? That Oliver made? Do Ian and Oliver share the same consciencesness? (Xkuse my spelingg) Is Oliver unique? Is Ian? What do we still need to figure out? |

Did Ian get deleted from RAM, because Oliver needed to store some other stuff there? eventually, YES Did Oliver start sending other tasks to the computers processor, thus eliminating any time spent on Ian, thus killing him? and YES, this first Did Oliver intentionnaly kill Ian? no, but irrel Was it a mistake? yes, but irrel So Ian is like a macro within Oliver? somewhat, yes That Oliver made? yes Do Ian and Oliver share the same consciencesness? no (Xkuse my spelingg) noo prbolem Is Oliver unique? yes Is Ian? yes What do we still need to figure out? hmm... there was a little more but I think you're close enough |

***** SPOILER ***** Oliver is an advanced artificial intelligence. He imagines a computer, running a similar (but simpler) program named Ian. As Ian is essentially running in a virtual machine inside Ian's imagination, he is (almost) as much alive and real as Oliver. But when Oliver's mind wanders, Ian ceases to exist. Well done Ian (the real Ian, that is) and thanks to everyone who played. |
