The mystery writer in me has decided to throw in an unusual twist. Careful or it will throw you off. Tom and Willy are, strictly speaking, cousins. |

Strictly speaking cousins: where 'cousin' is defined as broadly as both person's have a parent who is part of an immediate family? or whose parent has the same parents? very slight but important difference Are Tom and Willy multiple personalities of the one person? |

Is it possible for Tom and Willy to occupy exactly the same space at the same time? Do Tom and Willy have exactly one parent who is the same? Two parents? Could Tom and Willy also be referred to as brothers? Are both Tom and Willy real, existing human beings? If not, which one isn't - Tom? Willy? Are one of the boys always hidden in some way, so that people only ever see one of the two? |

To expand this question: Is it possible for Tom and Willy to occupy exactly the same space at the same time? If no, is this for physical reasons (e.g. because no two separate human beings can do such a thing)? Or mental reasons (e.g. they are both multi-personalities, and so only one can be 'dominant', the other would have to be 'dormant')? |

Do Tom and Willy have exactly one parent who is the same? Two parents? this is difficult to answer Could Tom and Willy also be referred to as brothers? not really Are both Tom and Willy real, existing human beings? yes If not, which one isn't - Tom? Willy? Are one of the boys always hidden in some way, so that people only ever see one of the two? in a manner of speaking, yes By John Morahan (Wunderland) on Friday, May 27, 2005 - 11:07 pm: Is one a spy/superhero/etc and the other his secret identity? no, but the answer is somewhat similar to this |

To clarify a question I answered when I was very tired... By Benjamin Moore (Zenith) on Friday, May 27, 2005 - 08:35 am: Strictly speaking cousins: where 'cousin' is defined as broadly as both person's have a parent who is part of an immediate family? or whose parent has the same parents? very slight but important difference The "fathers" of Tom and Willy are brothers. I put "fathers" in quotes for the same reason as I said they were stickly speaking cousins. The reason is part of the puzzle |

Willy is his original given name. Tom is his adoptive name. You may have seen signs of the order in some of my answers to the questions that were asked. |
