Was he:

jumping toward a target?

shooting something that caused a ricochet?

urinating and hit the power line/electric fence?

playing a video game?

making a bet, and because he didn't hit the target, he lost his life as part of the deal?

in an old-time style gunfight, and since his aim was poor, he missed his shot and his opponent shot him?

Was he:

jumping toward a target?

shooting something that caused a ricochet?

urinating and hit the power line/electric fence?

playing a video game? this one

making a bet, and because he didn't hit the target, he lost his life as part of the deal?

in an old-time style gunfight, and since his aim was poor, he missed his shot and his opponent shot him? no to rest

just as a side note, I'll do 3 versions of this puzzle and they will increase in dificulty. This one should go by quickly.

Dang, so much for my "electrified-floor-under-the-toilet" theory...

So the "he" that died was a game character? And the "he" that had bad aim was playing the game?

Was he playing one of those 007 video games? Quake? Doom? Some other first person shooter game with a multi-player option? Was he killed by the game npcs? or another player?

He was playing GTA:VC and couldn't get past the mission where you have to get on the roof and shoot the gang members with the sniper rifle, and he thought to himself, "OH MY GOOD GOLLY GOSH I'M SUCH A BAD PERSON BECAUSE I CAN'T BEAT THIS MISSION I WANNA DIE!" So he grabbed his nine and shot his *** for a long time.

Ok. The puzzle statement should be "He didn't survive because he had bad aim". I guess I messed up

Is the character a Stormtrooper from a Star Wars game? For an elite team of genetically enhanced crack shots, they can't aim worth squat.

Is the character controlled by... a human player? The computer?

Is the character human? alien? other animal? robot? imaginary creature?
Is he aiming with a weapon?
He didn't survive because he was killed? he ran out of time? he was dying anyway, but better aim would have saved him?

irrelevant, but its probably played on a newer system. You don't need to find an exact game, just what type of game it is.

Hmm... that puzzles me. What definition of "aim" are you using here? Is AIM an acronym for American Indian Movement?
aim = mark/target?
the pointing of a weapon at a mark?
the ability to hit a target? (Was he using a laser pointer? A rapel gun?)
A weapon's accuracy or effectiveness? (Was the character a weapon like in that RPG type game?)
Conjecture/guess?
The directing of effort toward a goal?
clearly directed intent or purpose?
(Would the word "design" work as a synonym in this context?)

I think I misunderstood. By goal do you mean a physical goal or like a goal that you can achieve

So he was playing a video game and he had bad aim and he was playing a basketball game and he died. He was murdered? Accident? Cancer? He would have made more money if he won the basketball game? And he couldn't afford the surgery he needed for his weird disease?

So he was playing a video game and he had bad aim and he was playing a basketball game and he died. No. If you read above where I said FA you would have realized that the character in the game was the one that died, not the person controlling him. Then later it was established that he didn't die, but "didn't survive" in some other way. He was murdered? Accident? Cancer? He would have made more money if he won the basketball game? And he couldn't afford the surgery he needed for his weird disease? So no to the rest

Look at this previous question

"So the "he" that died was a game character? And the "he" that had bad aim was playing the game?
correct"

***SPOILER***

The player of the game was no mad that he kept losing the shootout in the basketball game he was playing, that he turned off the game and the person in the game "didn't survive"

No more warm ups. Check out my puzzle uncovered. I think that should last a while.
