Is he "laundering" money :O?

Is she?

Is the cause of his not buying coffee there for a week the same one that causes his money to be wet (not directly, necessarily)?

Is he getting the money wet intentionally?

Does he put anything else on the counter besides the note?
During the week when he doesn't go to the shop, does he get coffee elsewhere?

is it dirty? No, N/A
does he need to get something off of the money? No
Did he have to cross a body of water that one week and got the bills wet because he was submerged? No, N/A
Does he put anything else on the counter besides the note? Yes (but proceed carefully)

Proceeding carefully...
Does he put anything else on the counter besides the note, the water that the note is wet with, and the coffee cup after he's finished drinking his coffee?
If so, one thing? more? ltpflpi? same number of things each time?
Does he put the note down first? last?
Does he put the note and other thing(s) on the counter at the same time?
Does he leave the other thing(s) on the counter? take it/them with him when he leaves? if the latter, does he put the exact same object(s) on the counter next time?
other thing(s) wrapped up in the note? note inside other thing(s)?
or is it his hand/arm/head/etc?

If so, one thing? more? N/A

is anything written on the money?
No, other than 'In God We Trust', which will hopefully ALWAYS appear on our currency, and all other writing which is standard on paper currency (in other words, no one has written anything on the bill)

Is it frozen in a block of ice? Indeed it is!
Does Judah like Shirley? No, at the present time he isn't too happy with her
is he trying to get a relationship started? No, certainly not!

Did Shirley do something to him that made him mad? Like turn him down for a date? Break up with him? Cheat on him? Refuse sex?

And the bill in the frozen block of ice is his way of calling her a frigid bitch without being overt about it? Or is he just trying to annoy her?

Did Shirley do something yes...
to him well not intentionally to him, but that may be his perception...
that made him mad? Eventually yes
Like turn him down for a date? Break up with him? Cheat on him? Refuse sex? No, no, no...nothing as extreme as any of this

And the bill in the frozen block of ice is his way of calling her a frigid bitch without being overt about it? Yikes...no, this is not the message he's trying to send (how did you come up with this one - maybe a bad breakup in your past...?)
Or is he just trying to annoy her? Yes, he is

I've been having an extended conversation with a guy about how it's disrespectful to keep calling somebody chick or baby after they've pointed out they don't care for it. The response I got was less than favorable, thus proving my point that the nicknames are a sign of disrespect/lack of caring. And he fully plans to ask a nice girl out and use such language. Ah well.

Had she been making his coffee in a way he didn't like? So he made his money in a way that she didn't like? In the hope that she'd adjust how she made the coffee? Too hot? Too cold?

Had she been making his coffee in a way he didn't like? YES
So he made his money in a way that she didn't like? EXACTLY
In the hope that she'd adjust how she made the coffee? YES
Too hot? No, but...
Too cold? YES!

Nice tag teamwork at the finish!

- - - - SPOILER - - - -

Judah stopped by the coffee shop on his way to work, which was later than most of the other customers (probably late morning). Shirley was in charge of making coffee, and she didn't make fresh coffee after the bulk of their morning business was over, thinking they were done selling it for a while. Even when a good customer like Judah came in for coffee, Shirley just served him the lukewarm remnant of the coffee from earlier. After his complaints were ignored, Judah took a week off to figure out a way to get his message across. He decided to come in, order his coffee, and present his payment encased in a block of ice. Shirley's manager quickly got the message, informed her that the coffee should be hot and fresh all day long, and everything worked out for Judah.

The sad part is, despite a great potential, Judah and Shirley never got together for a date...

That's a bit of an extreme response to cold coffee... I don't think I was that far off in thinking he'd call her names now if he's that sort of person.

No, you weren't that far off in what he would do, just far off in what my mind can come up with ;)

No, no - this was entirely from my imagination, which operates differently from that of others!

Coffee's funny that way--the temperature definitely effects the flavor (at least to me), although with water, soda, juice etc. it doesn't seem to make as much of a difference.

People are funny, too, because I don't know of anyone who will drink coffee at room temp or slightly warmer, it has to be hot. I know many people who will microwave the same cup of coffee 2 or 3 times before they finish because it starts to cool off before they can drink it all. I just don't care for the overly hot, scorching cup of coffee that has to sit for 15 minutes before you can even let your lips hit the liquid without wincing in pain...

I can't stand to drink water at room temp, it really needs to be ice cold or very close to it, yet others in my own family will gulp it down even it's from a bottle that has never been in the refrigerator.

It just shows we're wired differently.

It's the taste I think. Water just has to be ice cold to be good and right. Otherwise, I find it taste alittle weird. But yes, we all have our preferences.
