Is it to do with the proportions of the room? the height? the width? Are all the corners true square? |

Wow. Go my ability to read. It's nothing to do with sunlight or shadows. |

Does one have to be in the room to see it? outside the room? outside the hostel? Does one have to look out of the window to see it? Is it visible all the day? each day? Is the location of the room within the hostel relevant? the floor on which it is? If you were the owner of the hostel, would you be able to make money out of this particular quality? |

i\Hmmm. FA's abound} It would be primarily discovered through the sense of sight, but it's not something that you see, itself? Is there something missing from the room? Does it have anything at all to do with light? hazyness? the color of the light in the room? |

OK, then, is it a fixture? (light, door, radiator/heater, window lock, or some similar thing?) Do you have no closet? Is it an appliance? Is it something that is ordinarily expected to be provided by the landlord in a furnished room? in an unfurnished room? Or something that the resident is ordinarily expected to supply him/herself? |

Not something obvious like a bed, I suppose...was it fully stocked with penguins? Was the missing item a piece of furniture? Curtains/drapes? Grand piano? Waffle iron? An appliance? White goods (don't know if they still use that phrase in Austria or New Zedland or Kiwiland or wherever that is--hope your Spring is nice, by the way)? |

OK, if I was renting a furnished room, I'd expect a bed? at least one chair? something to store my non-closet-able clothes in, either a dresser or armoire, or cabinet? or at least a couple of drawers? a mirror? (even just a small one.) if it were a dorm room, I'd expect a desk, or something that would serve the purpose? and someplace to put books, either a bookshelf or at least a shelf or rack above the desk? |

Wrong season. Was the missing item a piece of furniture? Curtains/drapes? Grand piano? Waffle iron? An appliance? White goods (don't know if they still use that phrase in Austria or New Zedland or Kiwiland or wherever that is--hope your Spring is nice, by the way)? Assuming 'White goods' and 'whiteware' are quantitatively identical, the answer is no to all By Barbara Johannessen Bailey (Rabrab) on Saturday, October 29, 2005 - 02:54 am: OK, if I was renting a furnished room, I'd expect a bed? I don't know, would you :P. Yes, my room has a bed at least one chair? it has that too something to store my non-closet-able clothes in, either a dresser or armoire, or cabinet? yep, one of those too or at least a couple of drawers? a mirror? (even just a small one.) Ah. No mirror, but that's hardly unique if it were a dorm room, I'd expect a desk, got that or something that would serve the purpose? and someplace to put books, either a bookshelf or at least a shelf or rack above the desk? Ah. Don't have that either, but it's not unique |

Is a standard feature missing entirely? Or is part of a feature missing? Is it an architectural feature of the room? Such as windows? Doors? Ceiling? Floor? Walls? |

Is the thing that's not there missing because of a previous resident? if so, did they destroy it? damage / break it? disable it? remove it themselves? Did the landlord remove it? disable it? not replace it? decide it was unnecessary? decide it was dangerous? Is an entire object missing? part of an object? one of a set of objects? |

In many locales the actual number of penguins required to be considered "fully stocked" is surprisingly low... Does it (the missing widget) have a functional purpose? Is it some kind of signage? |

Hum. And hum again. Did the previous resident disconnect the smoke detector? ( Here in the US, a room available for public rental (including dorm rooms, as far as I know,) have to have a smoke detector installed, by law.) |

Was it removed from: The living room? The entryway? The bathroom? The bedroom? The kitchen? Will knowing this help at all? Was it: Mounted on the wall? The ceiling? A door? The floor? Onto another standard feature - like a fridge? |
