Is there a common saying that says that what we have done is impossible? Does "they" refer to people in general? Or a specific group of people? Does "we" refer to all people who post to the LTPF? Or just some of them? |

Is there a specific puzzle in which this impossible thing was done? A group of specific puzzles? Or is it a property of the forum in general? Was this impossible thing done more than once on this forum? Is there a specific day on which the impossible thing was done on this forum (for the first time)? If so, do you know what day that is? If so, what is it? Does "we" include me? |

Tell me - are you by any chance one of a set of triplets? Why do you think so? I am unique, of course! Is the thing we did considered impossible because it contradicts the laws of physics? contradicts common sense? is a logical paradoxon? Would you regard it an achievement that "we" managed to do it? Did we do it planfully? Did it just happen? |

I should say that although it is flattering to have some of my earlier puzzles remembered after all this time, it isn't necessary to know anything of them or of the history of the LTPF to solve this puzzle. |

"People" said it could not be done, but it is not a common saying? So was it said once? In the mass media? Or said often by various people, as in the four-minute mile or heavier-than-air flight? Or said not once or often bet perhaps several times? And widely believed? Or assumed to be believed? Are fora/bulletin boards relevant? Internet in general? Managing to avoid spam? trolls? porn? similar? |

By Mosquito (Mosquito) on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 - 06:13 pm: "People" said it could not be done, but it is not a common saying? there is no particular "common saying" associated with it, no. But nobody believes that it can be done, and this has been expressed in different ways by a number of people. So was it said once? see above In the mass media? Or said often by various people, as in the four-minute mile or heavier-than-air flight? more like this sort of thing Or said not once or often but perhaps several times? see above And widely believed? universally believed Or assumed to be believed? no Are fora/bulletin boards relevant? only this one Internet in general? no Managing to avoid spam? trolls? porn? similar? nothing like this. I should perhaps say that the reason people believe this thing cannot be done is that it cannot be done. Nor has it actually been done, even on the LTPF. But it certainly appears as though it has been done, which is what has prompted this rather silly puzzle |

So what has been done is believed to be impossible, and not just impossible to do on an online forum, correct? It is believed to be impossible to do in the real world? It "appears" to have been done on this forum? Would the appearance be the same if this forum were conducted by post? Or in the pub? |

How does one perceive the appearance of the impossible being done? when one looks at the list of new puzzles? reads individual ones? must one read several? Is this perception, in fact, gained by looking at a specific page/pages on the site? |

You'll make a bridge player yet, if you keep applying that fine intellect ***** SPOILER ***** For some days now - I am not sure how many - the forum clock has been eleven minutes slow. The effect of this has been that messages posted at, say, 10:55 appear to have been posted at 10:44. That is, the messages appear to have been sent backwards in time. As far as is known, time travel is impossible. But here, we have done it. My next puzzle will appear yesterday. Keep an eye out. |
