Something in the first act went wrong. This made the second act pretty difficult. |

Was the thing that went wrong dealing with scenery? Actors? The audience? The stage? Lighting? Was it hard for actors to get on stage for the second act? Hard to say their lines? Hard to move about onstage? |

The second act was difficult physically, as in, physically impossible? Or emotionally? Difficult, but not impossible? Did the second act still go on, or is this irrelevent? Was there an audience, and are they important? |

Was it hard for actors to get on stage for the second act? Hard to say their lines? Hard to move about onstage? yesish No to the rest. Yesish because it was no play in the normal sense. Welcome Izgany! The second act was difficult physically, as in, physically impossible? Or emotionally? no Difficult, but not impossible? It was physically difficult but not impossible. Did the second act still go on, or is this irrelevent? It did go on and this is relevant. Was there an audience, and are they important? There was a kind of audience but they were not important. |

I realized after posting that all my questions assumed it was a normal play. Is this just everyday life being observed? Is someone giving a presentation? Showing off/ being over-dramatic? Are the "acts" two similar events? Do they involve a person? Two people? More? If so, are the same people involved in both? |

Comforteagle: Is this just everyday life being observed? Yes Is someone giving a presentation? Noish Showing off/ being over-dramatic? No Are the "acts" two similar events? No Do they involve a person? Two people? More? If so, are the same people involved in both? First act: Three relevant persons. Second act: One person from the first act and two other persons of minor relevance forming the kind of audience. Martinfg: The act was it any kind of performance? The second act could be considered as a performance or act in the sense of a deed carried out? Yes, the word act stands here for deed/action/process/activity. |

Comforteagle: Would he second act have been easier if the two other people were still involved? no Were they not involved because of something that happened in the first act? No, they were just not envolved in the second act. Was anyone killed? no Did the two acts happen in the same place? no In the same day? Same month? Same year? yes to all of those Izgany: The second act being a performance, was it a pretense? Was the second act put up to hide the truth? no to both Plebeian: So the statement could have read "Something in the first activity went wrong. This made the second activity pretty difficult"? correct I chose act only to pretend that this puzzle was about theatre... but as you found out at once it is not. Were all three actively involved in the first act? The two persons appearing only in the first act were active, the third person rather passive. Judgedeadd: In the first act, did the two "audience-in-spe" instruct the third person to do something? FA, there was no audience-in-spe in the first act. |

Is the person in both acts adult? Male? (I'll just call her/him Sam for now, if that's alright) In the first act: Was Sam trying to learn something? Was Sam planning the second act before the first happened? Was Sam planning the second actafter the first act happened? Did Sam know the other two? Did the other two know each other? Is anyone involved in some criminal activity? Anyone trying to gain something? If so, money? |

Was the profession in question one where you normally need a longish education? in university or the like? I actually don't know the exact grade of the two men. I can only hazard the guess that one of them went to university and the other one was in his training period. Assuming this the puzzle will work fine. or one that can be learned in a year or so? No, I guess that in most countries it can't. or one you go on learning all the time (like many handicrafts)? this too in a way or one that can be started just like that? no Could this have happened if everyone involved were female? Some of them? yes to these If everyone were a child? Some of them? No, only the persons watching in the second act could have been children. |

Hi there, I would like this one to be finished this year so here is an abstract: This puzzle has nothing to do with theatre, it describes a process in everyday life envolving two steps the second one following the first. In the first act a doctor and a nurse performed a kind of operation on Sam. As this did not proceed as desired Sam had physically problems to perform the second act. Find out: What kind of operation was performed (it is something done only on adults)? What was Sam trying to do in the second act (everyone of you does it regularly)? What were his physical problems? |

If they didn't succeed with one arm, did they try the other also, so Sam was doubly incapacitated? yes, this is a -------------- SPOILER -------------- This happened to me (aka Sam) when I gave blood (first act). A (young) hospital nurse tried quite a while to catch a vein in the crook of my left arm without success. Finally, a second hospital nurse (maybe he was a doctor) managed to tap into my right arm. The blood donation went allright but I found myself with both arms bandaged. Afterwards, I was supposed to eat and drink (second act) but this was pretty difficult as I was unable to angle my arms. Thank you, Crazypalpig and Sunshine, for finishing this puzzle! |
