She didn't understand the joke. She was just too rich. This is my first effort for quite a while. Bear with me while I try to remember exactly what it is we do here |

Damia: does the first she = same person as the second she? she = adult human female? yes does it matter how much money she had? million? more? no, not really, suffice it to say she lives well and has no monetary problems at all. She is not, for example, one of the richest people in the country, just well-to-do is there 1 other individual? 2? 3? 4? 5? more? there is one other individual involved. I'll save you some house keeping - it is me |

So - the reason why she did not understand the joke was that, being well off, she did not have a particular experience a person not-so-well-off would have, correct? Would it help to find out what the joke was? Would the joke work in any country? Or is it based on a particular product/shop which is to be found only in a particular country? |

Damia was there a crime in your joke? no did the person in your joke buy anything? yes, but go somewhere? yes if so is it relevant where? yes, not specifically where, but generally - that is to say, geography is not important, all that is important is to find out the situation, which involves going somewhere Alizon So - the reason why she did not understand the joke was that, being well off, she did not have a particular experience a person not-so-well-off would have, correct? correct, but "experience" is probably not the correct expression - she could not have been in the particular situation wich a not-so-well-off person could be in Would it help to find out what the joke was? yes Would the joke work in any country? I certainly hope so! Definitely not in the poorest countries in the world, but in most other countries I should think that this is possible Or is it based on a particular product/shop which is to be found only in a particular country? there is a slight risk that this is the case, but I really doubt it Cookie Is the story about sparing money? no Or a special kind of store? no, but... I once saw a rich woman in a supermarket and it was easy to tell that it was her first time she did shopping in a supermarket. the person in the story is not that rich - but your remark is relevant anyway |

Hi there, Snoozer Is it about how many shopping carts you need to buy your things? not this, only one shopping cart relevant for this topic comparing the shopping cart with something else, such as the size of your car? no. However... Stealing it and taking it all the way home? no how many shopping carts you have parked outside your house? no, although that would be an interesting sight to behold the amount of money you will get for returning the shopping carts you have at home? no - because... |

Snoozer Do you know a way to trick the cart, so you can get the coin out after releasing the cart and use it for shopping? no Sunshine Did you use a coin? a token? THIS ONE If the latter, was it a recognised token or something you had that worked instead? it was something that you could get at the store, the shape of a Swedish fivecrown which is the coin that normally works in these carts Did you have a scruple about abandoning the cart with this token? YES! was it something you needed to regain? Yes, OTRT - but beware of FA... Did you have to spend ages lining up to get your token back? no, not this These are very good questions, Sunshine Blazingphoenix} By any chance, did you pay for it with a rare coin, or did you pay with a coin and then get a cion of lesser value back? (Ex- you put in a US quarter, then got a Canadian quarter back?) no to both - and actually I don't know how one would go about to do this last part. In Sweden at least, the coin or token that you put in remains in the slot until you return the cart. There is only the coin or token that you put there in the cart |

Was the token attached to something valuable? Eg a set of keys? (I think these tokens sometimes come in the form of a key ring.) Perhaps you joked about leaving the token (plus whatever it was attached to) in the trolley, and your friend took this seriously? |

Was it on the same key ring as your car keys? Does it give you a problem opening the car door, because you have an old car that can only be opened with a key, which is now stuck to the cart? |

Snoozer Was it on the same key ring as your car keys? Yes Does it give you a problem opening the car door, because you have an old car that can only be opened with a key, which is now stuck to the cart? Yes Damia did you have to take the trolley back to free your keys? Yes then take the shopping back to the car by hand? Yes, exactly. Well done, both of you! and I think this is enough for a SPOILER I was telling a friend how I had gone shopping with a full cart and then, when the time came to unload all my bags into the car, I realized that the car was impossible to open, as the car keys were attached to the same key ring that my cart-getting-token was attached to. She looked at me blankly, not realizing that this was a problem, and after all, she was so well-off that she had never had to buy an old car. Thus, all she had to do, was press a button on her key and the car opened obediently and without turning a key. Some time has passed since then and we have a newer car now, however, whenever I borrow my husband's car to go shopping, the same thing almost happens... Thank you and well done all. A particular thanks to Snoozer who has kept the puzzle running. |
