[OFF-TOPIC] Why do you answer questions in italics? Doesn't that basically defeat the purpose of a rulebreaker? You can essentialy solve it only by italics questions without asking any check questions, as if it were a regular lateral puzzle. If you do them straight using only answers according to the rule, it's much more fun, and it feels a bit like cryptanalysis. Doesn't it kind of spoil the fun when you start answering questions like "Is yatta-yatta relevant"?

Hold it right there!
Can I ask you somethink?
Maybe you answer statements too.

If you do them straight using only answers according to the rule, it's much more fun, and it feels a bit like cryptanalysis. Doesn't it kind of spoil the fun when you start answering questions like "Is yatta-yatta relevant"? For the most part, I actually agree with you, and I guess my statement should have been that I will answer questions in italics on a limited basis. I think that for the most part the questions are asked based on vague ideas that people have about the rule based on the other answers. If I feel the questions are just shots in the dark or have no reasoning behind them, or if I think the answer will spoil the fun or give too much away, I reserve the right to not answer. I've run several rulebreakers, and I've rarely encountered this as a problem.

Hold it right there! First you have to catch me!!
Can I ask you somethink? Guess you just did...
Maybe you answer statements too. NEVER!! Um, well, yeah, I guess I do.

Perhaps I should find out if you like the letter Q too ? Q is actually much easier than X. More words start with Q.
Good enough for a $p0il?You're free to take a crack at the rule. Clearly you know what letters my answers will start with, but you've yet to tell me WHY. That's what the rule's all about. Have at it! Just no more X's please.

Well, first it thought that it was random, but maybe not... There are some letter that stand out, such as S, V and Z. If we ask something that starts with those letters, your answer will start with the same letter. Relevant to find certain letters? Similar pattern with numbers.
My other thought was that if we ask something that starts with a vowel, you answer with a consonant... except if the question start with a Y...

coincidental, and not relevant

May I have a crack at the answer?of course You CAed the $sign. You didn't make a rule for things beginning in non letters or numbers? no, there is a rule, it's just that the rule leads to CAs for certain symbols. The rule regarding symbols was an afterthought, and is only a small part of the puzzle

Is the rule simply, if we ask a question starting with an S, V or Z, your answer will start with the same letter. In any other case it will start with another letter, but the same letter all the time? And it is the same rule for the numbers 5, 6 and 9?

there is something that distinguishes why those letters and numbers get answers starting with the same letter or number, but that's only one part of the rule.

Hint in white:

Don't worry about symbols for the moment. Letters and numbers can be broken down into 3 categories. If you look at the 3 groups of letters independently, the pattern determining the first letter of the answers seems MUCH more clear. You've found one group of letters (S, V, and Z). Now figure out the other 2

S, v and z are answered with the same letter.
Y, w, k, h, e and f are answered with a letter that comes before those letters in the alphabet. Is this a group?
The remaining a, b, i, l, m, n, o, p, q, t, x, g, j, r, u, c and d are answered with a letter that comes later in the alphabet. Are they the last group?

S, v and z are answered with the same letter. yes
Y, w, k, h, e and f are answered with a letter that comes before those letters in the alphabet. Is this a group? Almost. One letter off
The remaining a, b, i, l, m, n, o, p, q, t, x, g, j, r, u, c and d are answered with a letter that comes later in the alphabet. Are they the last group? Almost, one letter off

These groups are almost correct, but there is one letter that you have in the second group that belongs in the third, and vice versa.

I THINK the letters switched were the y, and the d, because if you put the alphabet in a circle, y goes forwards to meet A, and backwards for D to meet W

I THINK the letters switched were the y, and the d, because if you put the alphabet in a circle, y goes forwards to meet A, and backwards for D to meet W you are correct! Now figure out why the letters are grouped this way...

Hey, could someone teach me how to make a rulebreaker? I think they are really fun, but I have no clue how to go about making one! I would appreciate it much!

First group: s,v,z, they go to themselves
Second, D,e,f,h,k,w. If you put them in a circle, they go after the letter that you post
Third: all the rest, a,b,c,g,i,j,l,m,n,o,p,q,r,t,u,v,x,y go behind in that circle

exactly. but now you need to determine what is the significance of those groups, which will also help determine how I answer number and symbol questions

Just one little thing, i didn't realize this, but you said this IS NOT a CA rulebreaker. Yet you Caed all the signs except ^just because certain questions can't be answered does not mean that the purpose of the puzzle is to figure out what gets a CA, which is the purpose of a CA rulebreaker. That's just one little part of the rule, and once you figure the rule out, it will make more sense

just wondering, do we have enough info to spoyl?you still need to tell me why the letters and numbers are in those specific groups. The grouping is not random! THEN I can spoil.

CORRECTION:

I previously answered questions beginning with # as CA. The correct answer should be the same as I answered it this time!!!

Ok, I'm just going to post the

**************SPOILER*********************

I divided all letters and numbers into 3 groups.
I determined the groups by pronouncing those letters and numbers aloud and determining whether they where phonetically identical to any other word that had nothing to do with the letter or number.

Therefore that first group is:
A (the article), B (the insect), C (sea or see), G, I, J, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, T, X, and Y for letters and 1, 2, 4 and 8 for numbers. For any number or letter in this list my answer would start with the next letter or number.

The second group is composed of the letters and numbers which have other meanings but they are ambiguously related to the number:
S (like a curve shaped like the letter), V, and Z for letters, and 0, 5, 6, and 9 for numbers. These I answered with the same letter or number.

The final group are those letters and numbers with no other meaning phonetically:
D, E, F, H, K and W...and 3 and 7. These I answered with the previous number or letter of the group.

As far as other symbols were concerned, since there is no way to order a list of symbols, I pronounced the name of the symbol and if the name had a phonetic equivalent I started my answer with the same letter as that name. Otherwise, I gave it a CA.

I wish someone could have solved it! Oh well! Good job getting as far as you did! Maybe I'll wait a while before I do another rulebreaker!

Ouch... I don't usually sound out the rulebreakers... BTW, I cannot think of a word that sounds like m, besides the spelling of m! (em) or n (en?) I am guessing Q was queue(I hate that word in boggle) but X? what does that mean, ecks?

em and en are printing measurements. Ex could be used to describe someone you used to date. Q is either queue or cue.
