Partly because my parents were very liberal, I now have a trait that seems, well, very frumpy. How come?? |

Frumpy in the sense of "colorless and primly sedate"? More in the sense of unfashionable? Primly out-of-date? This is a trait based on their values? |

Does the trait have to do with... A habit of yours? Clothing you wear? Glasses/contacts? A physical trait? A mental trait? An emotional trait? A categorical trait (You belong to category X, group y, i.e. being a Freemason, Jewish, Non-canonical Star wars fan)? An animal? Vegetable? Mineral? You are H?A?F? Does your mom have this trait? Does your dad have this trait? |

Er, you say the puzzle is nearly solved, but I feel a bit stuck... Ok, so your parents' liberalism about your timetables has given you particular (frumpy, some might say) sleeping habits. Correct? Could one say that you go to bed earlier than normal? Later? Does it involve something you do before going to bed? Brushing your teeth? Something to do with lights/lamps? With blankets? Pyjamas? |

Did you also go to bed early when you were a child? If so, is it because you didn't feel pressured into following your parents? Wheras other children may have gone to bed late to rebel against their parents less liberal rules? Or did you take advantage of your parents liberal attitudes and go to bed late? Did your parents' laxity about timetables male it difficult for you to keep track of time? To organise time? Do you go to bed early because that's when you feel tired? To ensure you get enough sleep? |

Or that you don't feel as well the next day if you haven't gotten enough sleep? no ***** SPOILER *********** My parents never gave me a curfew, partly because they were liberal by conviction, partly because they disliked arguments, & partly, I'm embarrassed to admit, because they realized I was too nerdy to get into trouble. So I could stay out as late as I wanted to--& hence got out of my system very early any idea that there was anything exciting about staying up late. Now, I'm usually in bed by 9:30 & turn down late-night activities, which I guess makesm e look like a frump. Thanks for solving it, Buzzrard, & please check out my new puzzle you-know-where. |
