Bob happily confessed to a murder he didn't commit, and received the death penalty. But why? |

Organized crime relevant? [In some cases, a Mob Family would offer to provide for the family of one of the underlings if he would "take the fall" for a higher-ranking member of the gang. Anything like this?] Did Bob expect to receive the death penalty? or did he confess expecting that the sentence would be life in prison? |

One last set of questions before I leave work, ;) The relevant thing about him; His health? family? education? where he's born? hobbies? political opinions? Is there anything relevant about the murderer? Is there any other reason for Bob taking the blame than just the money, like he doesn't want the murderer to die for some reason? You said that Bob doesn't know the murderer. Is it relevant why he was asked to take the blame (as in him instead of a 'Jim', 'Pete' or 'Andrew')? |

before the confession, is Bob's family in poverty/ have little money? does Bob have a nice life insurance policy? when he dies, does the family get the money from the life insurance policy? did Bob meet with the murderer after he (Bob) decided to confess to the murder? does Bob let the murderer know that he is going to take the rap for the murder or does Bob do this on his own? is anyone else involved in Bob's decision to confess to the murder? does anyone else know about his plan? I am assuming no fingerprints are left at the scene of the crime that would place the real murderer at the scene instead of Bob... |

Did Bob decide that since he was going to die soon anyway, he might as well save someone else from the death penalty? Pr that he might aswell make some money from it? Was Bob certain that the real murderer was guilty? Was there some particular reason why the real murderer would be likely to get caught if Bob didn't take the fall for him? Did Bob believe that the murderer should not be punished? That what he did was right? Does Bob have any relevant religious or political beliefs? |

Would Bob's family get the financial benefit from an insurance policy other than life insurance? from selling the story to a book publisher or a screenwriter? the actual murderer? or someone connected with him? something else, unrelated to either the murder or Bob's confession? conviction? execution? Did his family get the money when he confessed? when he was convicted? when he was sentenced? when he was executed? soon after he was executed [within 1 or 2 months]? moderately long after he was executed [6 months to a year]? long after he was executed [longer than 1 year]? Did the money come from an individual? a group of individuals? a company? the government? Was it a reward [50,000 dollars for information leading to the arrest and conviction...]? |

YES! or someone connected with him? or I suppose more likely actually this something else, unrelated to either the murder or Bob's confession? conviction? execution? none of these Did his family get the money when he confessed? when he was convicted? when he was sentenced? when he was executed? soon after he was executed [within 1 or 2 months]? this one moderately long after he was executed [6 months to a year]? long after he was executed [longer than 1 year]? Did the money come from an individual? a group of individuals? a company? the government? Was it a reward [50,000 dollars for information leading to the arrest and conviction...]? Bob's family were paid money by the murderer in order to secure his confession. The question is, why did Bob accept the offer - there is more to it |

OK, Bob would not have lived long anyway. Was he terminally ill? extremely old? severely injured? Relevant? Would Bob's death have left his family poor? destitute? deeply in debt? Yesterday you said this: quote:did the murderer tell Bob that he(the murderer) had killed someone (after the fact)? yes-ish
The -ish: Did the murderer not tell Bob directly? did he imply to Bob that he had murdered? Did Bob figure it out on his own? Is the -ish connected to the word "tell"? Bob's background: A skill he had? lipreading? the ability to read upside down? His job? if so, was it a job where he hears a number of conversations over the course of a workday? waiter? bus driver? cabbie? street sweeper? elevator operator? clerk? some other "invisible" job? You'd never believe the kinds of things I heard back when I was waiting tables... |

So he was goung to die anyway, and decided he might as well be sentenced for two crimes and help his family out whil he was at it? YES! ********** SPOILER ************ Bob was sitting on death row, and due to be executed very soon when he was approached by Fred. If Bob would agree to confess to a crime which Fred had committed, Fred would give Bob's family $500,000. This would probably have the added bonus for Bob of delaying his execution for a few months. So everyone was happy... |
