Ok, here's my guess based on what I can tell/hopefully it's not too far off... does it have to do with the shapes of the letters--regarding the single letters, do they have to have both lines and curves (ie B, b) to be unanswerable, and those that have only straight lines (ie. x) or only curves (ie o) then you can answer them? Regarding the statements/words, you consider only the first letter, so you cannot answer any word/statement where the first letter is a non-answerable letter? |

Ok, here's my guess based on what I can tell/hopefully it's not too far off... We'll see... does it have to do with the shapes of the letters--regarding the single letters, do they have to have both lines and curves (ie B, b) to be unanswerable, and those that have only straight lines (ie. x) or only curves (ie o) then you can answer them? YEEEEES!!!! Regarding the statements/words, you consider only the first letter, so you cannot answer any word/statement where the first letter is a non-answerable letter? Bingo! Good, now just find out one more little thing. You have the information of previous posts to get everything right. |

Considering you can answer:
quote:how about? about what?
I'm going to suggest that if the first letter of a word in the line is answerable, than the whole line is answerable. Still confused about you being able to answer 'm' and 'u' but not 'n'. |

Considering you can answer: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- quote: how about? about what? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ...Whoops. That should be a CA... sorry, and thank you for pointing out that BLOOPER I'm going to suggest that if the first letter of a word in the line is answerable, than the whole line is answerable. Yes, that is correct. Still confused about you being able to answer 'm' and 'u' but not 'n'. Drat, you have a point there too... When I came up with this puzzle, I wrote out the letters on a sticky note, and my lowercase m's and u's are really curvy, but the n's are straight with that top curve... I'm starting to think I should have gone with the font instead, so I apologize for all the confusion... If no one can solve the last part in two posts, then I shall spoil |

Has it got to do with non alphabet characters? On Crazypalpig's CA rulebreaker, I posted three lists, dividing the characters into those of straight lines, those only of curves, and those of a mixture: ie. $ % & ® K ½ Å Ø F Q W Y b c f h i j l m n p q r s t y B D G J P Q R a b d f h i j m n p q r t u Were we looking to find characters that also register CAs? |

Sorry to both of you about the lists. I just wanted to try an exhaustive search to test a theory. You never had to answer all the posts, just to give an idea of whether I was on the right line of thought. Even still, isn't that what copy/paste is for? (:

Ok. I'm going to guess that an unanswerable line is one where the line consists all (or perhaps an odd number) of unaswerable 'words'. An unanswerable word is a string of characters seperated by a whitespace that begins with an unanswerable character. An unanswerable character is an alphanumeric character that when written down consists of both straight line segments and curved segments (with the exception of 'm' and 'u'...) With respect to your 'hint' about 'thinking numerically' I'm suggesting that 2 and 5 might be the other two CAs? I'm not sure why W isn't a CA character though, unless it really doesn't matter... |

I'm not sure why W isn't a CA character though, unless it really doesn't matter... Oh, omega just won't show up on my computer, but it is all curved, so I could answer it... which I did. When I copy and paste it, it comes up as W... |

Oops, Sorry, missed a post, That's cute, two rules! You answer a numeric post with a comment related to that digit/number. In the above posts, you've answered it with the number in english, but not necessarily. I like it! a CA puzzle with a non CA rule. Thanks for the heads up on the greek characters. I was thinking of making a rulebreaker using non english or alphanumeric characters, but apparently this wouldn't work on everyone's machines. pity... |

Gah! Since no one seems to understand the last rule, I shall just have to... *************SPOOOOOOOOOOIL************** Alright guys, Here are the rules: I only look at the first letter/number in the sentance. Judging by that, I am able to answer them accordingly. 1) If the first letter consists of only straight lines, I answer it with straight letters. If it consists of only curvy lines, then I answer with only curvy letters. If it consists of BOTH straight and curvy, then I can't answer it. 2) If someone leaves a space between questions, or types a number, (not spells a number, but types one,) then I am able to answer both a space and a number with letters that consist of BOTH curvy and straight lines. Well, that's how I did it! Hope it was amuzing for everyone, and I will think up some more intriguing puzzles that you lot won't be able to solve right away! Good puzzling y'all! ;3 |
