Age of murderer isn't suffice to say he was an adult. Gender of victim is not especially relevant . In this version it's a girl. Era is yopishly relevant in that this happened in the last 20 years. Sorry for posting two in a row.. posted the last one too quickly If the victim is a newspaper delivery girl, did the murderer kill her on her delivery route, and no more newspapers were delivered that day? His house was the last to receive a paper? Did the murderer realize part of the paper was torn? Perhaps it was torn in a struggle, and a torn piece of it was found on the murderer's property, revealing that he had in fact received a newspaper the day of the murder? | ||

It wasn't part of the crime scene relevant where the body was found? not really how the body was Well it was dead :o) I'm going to post a recap here to avoid any confusion A 12 year old girl is found murdered by strangulation in a ditch. She was last seen doing her paper round. In her possession is her delivary bag with some undelivered newspapers one of which is torn. After a clever deduction a detective is then able to order a forensic test of an object belonging to the suspect which strongly points to his guilt and ultimately leads to his confession and conviction. The object is not hand held or considered large. Hope this makes sense | ||

Close enough to declare a *****************SPOILER******************** The case hinged on the fact that the as there were 2 newspapers left in her bag the police initially assumed she had not made it to the 2nd last house on her route. In fact she had and the man living there raped and murdered her and dumped her body. To cover his tracks he removed the paper from his letterbox and put it back in her bag to throw the police of the scent. Unfortunately for him in his haste he tore the newspaper while removing it from the letterbox. Our detective correctly deduced that the rip happened in this way and forensics were able to match tiny paint fragments on the paper with the suspects letter box. Faced with this the suspect confessed. Well done Damia for solving and thanks to Detective Inspector Jack Frost for the story. Please divert your minds to my Close Call puzzle on which i'm going to post a hint as you all seem to have a very limited knowledge of bomb making!! |
