Promoting - relevant to the identity of the object? relevant to the characteristic? relevant to the objects function? i wasn't getting like that, though I may have invoked Cheesus' name in vain once or twice cheesed off was meant to imply - the whole affair smelled suspicious, like month old cheese? the other candidates were going crackers? more loop holes in the elections than a swiss cheese? there was a really cheesy gimmick involved? wow, this one is actually a possibility, because it could mean... the claim about the characteristic was cheesy? still, no chance of stopping the cheese once it's already rolling down the hill the mayor was elected due to it being the chalk to the other candidates cheese? the elected mayor is edam good choice, far better than the other candidates would brie? How many terrible ideas camambert? PS Just to clear things up, was 'cheesed off' a clue? PPS Oh dear, I just came up with a puzzle idea. Was going to post it now, until I realised there are much better ways to inflict WAGs which have already been proven wrong. |

Is it a spoon? i know you don't buy then in a drugstore but you said off the cheesed which is a spoonerism ? or am i just wissing in the pind? Cost Mertainly!...No... It's not cheese...what else can be cheesy? Another thought is lurking so i'll ask this . if this puzzle were a movie what rating would it have? and would i let my children see it?you certainly could let your children see it... not knowing exactly what was said by the other candidates might result in a PG but hey... |

Should we reach deep in the "cheese pun file" or is the item used to make, eat, or otherwise live with cheese? |

So we are talking about a product you would buy in a drug store that is a remedy for some ailment or condition. Is it a cream ? lotion? Could it be decribed as cosmetic? It's not toothpaste is it? i'm thinking of cheesy grins? BTW dissappointed that bodo's guess re Hemorrhoid Treatment wasn't right. A tube of Prep H as a mayor now that'd be a story. Would have had piles of fun with that (groan) |

Peter365: Could it be decribed as cosmetic? No It's not toothpaste is it?No i'm thinking of cheesy grins? Wouldn't toothpaste cause cheesy grins, not off them? BTW dissappointed that bodo's guess re Hemorrhoid Treatment wasn't right. A tube of Prep H as a mayor now that'd be a story. Would have had piles of fun with that (groan) Ah but that would be a whole different story... |

Darn it . Clicked the link as well. Would have been a long time coming up with the answer. Still think the Prep H should have won!! And yes a very nice puzzle indeed. I think someone should spoyle it now. |

I think this puzzle is effectively an Ex-puzzle...so... ******************Spoiler***************** To get the full story follow the link posted above, but for those of you too lazy or too disinterested to do so... the puzzle concerned a foot powder which was elected mayor of a town pop. 4000. Basically the promoters of the foot powder ran a campaign closely allied to the election that was going on, and enough people wrote it in that it won... kind of beats those dead people who win and all that... Now I wonder is there really any connection between the foot powder and Bush... oh yeah I forgot Poland! |
