Was this a close relative? Did he know you owed money? and maybe called to make you upset about what the "bank" or other financial institution was telling you? and maybe when he told you his full name, you put two and two together and realized it was a prank call and not the financial institution that was calling you? was he telling you that you owed more than you did? that a bill was overdue? that your credit card/phone/etc. was going to be cancelled/disconnected? | ||

Bill Ode/Owed? Bill K. Lecter/Bill Collector? (crazy guess)not too crazy, in fact a ********** SPOILER! ********* Booklover spoils it!! My wife returned home after that phone call and I told her that an old friend had called.. and his name was Bill. Well she racked her brains and tried to think back at who she knew from 10 years back named Bill... and came up with no one. However when we looked at the phone number we saw that it matched the number of someone who had been repeatedly calling to speak to my wife and we figured out exactly who it was. This happened around 10 years ago when we went through some financial hard times. We had trouble paying a credit card bill (or it might have been medical) and it went to collection. the Bill Collectors used to call us and pressure us to make payments and after awhile they would get very abnoxious. If they thought someone was blocking their calls they would lie and do whatever they could to get the debtor on the phone. The other clues were when I answered Enjay's question with the question ... Will you? and the title referred to "collect calls" "card collectors" and "dust collectors" Thanks to all who played along!! |
