Since its an eating-placeish government building, is he perhaps an underprivileged / homeless individual who is going to a government sponsored shelter? So he pretty much didn't have a choice in the matter? If not, was him going there actually related to him hating the place? directly? butterfly-effect-wise? |

Is it a works canteen? Does he suffer any physical ill-effects after eating there? Does he eat there on every single visit? Do his visits bring back painful memories? Is he performing some sort of regression therapy? Would we call him a masochist in the psychological sense, or just in a slang sense (eg. I am attempting a Bentarm/Woubit/BeccaAnn puzzle so I must love pain)? Is he a sexual fetishist? Does he have a toothache? Is he paid by the people who serve him the food? Is he a chef? A waiter? A critic? Does he visit incognito? |

Hmmm. So when he is in the building, does he feel any psychological pain? Discomfort? Sorrow? Regret? Boredom? Fatigue? Does he pay the same price for his food as everyone else? Random (and almost certainly wrong) brainwave: is he Guy de Maupassant? [The story goes that he hated the Eiffel Tower, so he dined there as often as possible, as it was the only location from which he could not see the Eiffel Tower.] |

Random (and almost certainly wrong) brainwave: is he Guy de Maupassant? [The story goes that he hated the Eiffel Tower, so he dined there as often as possible, as it was the only location from which he could not see the Eiffel Tower.] YES!! and you even got the right French author... most people think it was Balzac, who was actually dead by the time the tower was built So there is somethig relevant to reveal about this food server? is it in a school? open to public? in a prison? did anyone work there? did a person bring food to him? did he sit on a chair? at a table? eat with silverware? was it a vending machine? *********** SPOILER ************* Bob (real name Guy de Maupassant) went to the Eiffel Tower for dinner every day. When someone commented on how much he must love the place to go there so often, he replied (words to the effect of), "Love it? I eat there because it's the only place in Paris where I can't see the hideous thing" |

Aaaaah, nice one. I feel guilty now. It just came to me in passing. If I'd known it was the right answer, I could have played along with some oblique questions about umbrellas, etc. Great idea for a puzzle, though. |
