You awake in a room. There is a device on the wall, looks sort of like a dumbwaiter. In the room, there is : Rack of musical instruments Calendar Box of tacks Atlas Figurine Fish Tank. There is a shut door in the North part of theroom. You hear a person say, "Welcome to your 5 year mission, (More like several days, but... anyhow)" |

First, could you describe the dimensions and characteristics of the room more clearly? Does the dumbwaiter move? Which wall is it on? What kind of musical instruments are on the rack? How many tacks do you have? Anything written on the box? Is it a world atlas? Or specific area? Can you skim through and look for any marks, writing, scraps of paper, etc.? What kind of figurine is it? What is it made of? Anything in the fish tank? What's on the clothes rack? Examine the shut door. Is there a keyhole of some sort? Are we looking for a key? Or some other means of opening it? |

First, could you describe the dimensions and characteristics of the room more clearly? Around the size of a master bedroom... Ceiling, and walls are made out of an unknown metal, guessing Duranium at the moment, Ceiling is carpeting, The fish tank and figurine are on top of the clothes rack in the top left corner. Atlas on the wall to the right, tacks holding it up. The tacks are on the floor. As for the rack of instruments, it is under the dumb waiter Does the dumbwaiter move?Yes Which wall is it on?On the other side of the wall What kind of musical instruments are on the rack?Lets see, trumpets, violins, bagpipes, recorder, a Vulcan harp, other unidentifiable wind instruments. How many tacks do you have?An entire box load. I'm not going to try to count them Anything written on the box?"Tacks" Is it a world atlas? No, US Or specific area? Can you skim through and look for any marks, writing, scraps of paper, etc.? Nothing What kind of figurine is it?A 2 foot male What is it made of?Looks like plastic Anything in the fish tank?Yes, several fish, I can't identify most of them. What's on the clothes rack?Clothing. To be more specific, lots of long sleeves, Starfleet Uniforms... Even some costumes from around Terra. Examine the shut door. Is there a keyhole of some sort?No Are we looking for a key?No Or some other means of opening it?The voice again says, "You need a card key" Then he says, "I'm sorry, but I nae can get the transporter to beam you up. The transporter coils fused, so you'll have to do this manually, laddy!} |

Ahh... the title makes sense to me now. Does this puzzle require a working knowledge of the Vulcan language? Do you fit in the dumbwaiter? If so, could you lift yourself up to wherever it leads? |

Ahh... the title makes sense to me now.:D Does this puzzle require a working knowledge of the Vulcan language? Hopefully, no. Do you fit in the dumbwaiter? No, it is way too small. The speaker just said "Nae, tisn't a dumbwaiter, but a transporter of anything that fits inside." If so, could you lift yourself up to wherever it leads?Nope, sorry. can you take the atlas down?Yes is there anything behind it?A drawing of a hand: it's missing the third finger though try to play the instruments?OK... *Boom* *Screech* plus many not so good sounding sounds. Makes you wish you listened more to your band teacher... Is there something in the pockets of your clothes?Lint, paperclips... some paper of costumes on the rack? No, I couldn't even find pockets on any of 'em What is the date on the calendar?Star Date 5234.2 What kind of a calendar is it? A stardate one Is there something else in the fish tank?Nothing of interest, some pebbles, a slug, an air refresher How do the fish look?Good enough to eat at least. The one's I can identify are: Bass, Trout, Salmon, Koi, and... Gagh. Bleh. Is there anything inside the instruments? No, besides your spittle Is there anything unusual about the atlas? (any markings, drawings etc.) It is of the US, anything else, no. Is there ahything inside the dumbwaiter?Oxygen, and as the guy said, tisn't a dumbwaiter(I was trying to fix that mistake... why would a 24th century starship have a dumbwaiter? |

Put on one of the uniforms, make sure it has some insigina on it, walk up to the "dumbwaiter" and say "Tea, Earl Grey, Hot." The 2 foot figurine... is it a garden gnome? Does this puzzle have something to do with play on words? I.e. do I need to pull out the "March" section of the calendar? |

Try putting your middle finger inside the dumbwaiter (okay, okay, I know it's a transporter, but I like to call it that). Try flipping off the dumbwaiter, the picture, the atlas, the clothes, the fishes, the figurine. Examine the figurine very closely. Anything unusual about it? Does it resemble you? How do its hands look, are they missing a finger? Is there anything written on it? |

Try putting your middle finger inside the dumbwaiter (okay, okay, I know it's a transporter, but I like to call it that). OK, actually the real name in Star Trek for transporter is matter displacer. Nothing happened. Try flipping off the dumbwaiter, the picture, the atlas, the clothes, the fishes, the figurine. Not familiar with the definition of "flipping" in this sense Examine the figurine very closely. Anything unusual about it?Nope Does it resemble you?I sure hope not, no. How do its hands look, are they missing a finger? No Is there anything written on it?No |

when you point your middle finger only at someone, at least in the US, it is considered an insult and is generally like telling someone to f@#$ off. It's called flipping someone off. I can see why judgedeadd thought it was relevant to the puzzle. |

I had puzzler's block on my next one of these, so I'll try and help get this one done Examine the figurine by looking at the underside of it - anything written or drawn there (like under the base)? If so, put it on the mannequin, then stand the mannequin on the atlas page for Alabama and set the bagpipes beside it..YES! The voice tells you well done, and all the stuff vanishes in a purple light, and in its place is a cardkey. You open the door. Examine the calendar: Is it a one-day-to-the-page calendar? one month to the page? if so, what month is showing? the whole year on one sheet? is there a picture on it? more than one picture? if so, what is it (are they) of? Is it an advertising calendar? if so, what company, good, or service is it advertising? Is it in English? if not, what language is it in? Does it show the Gregorian year, if not, what system does it show? Jewish? Chinese? Moslem? Incan? Mayan? Is it for the current year? if not, what year is it for? Are any dates marked in a noticeable way? Is there anything on the wall behind it? Examine the church: About how large is it? will it fit into the transporter chamber? Can I see inside of it? Is it made like a cutaway dollhouse? like a swing-open dollhouse? does the roof lift off? or is it made permanently closed like a gingerbread house? If it can be opened, or is open, is anything inside of it movable? if yes, which bits are movable? Is it possible to determine what denomination it is a representation of? Is it placed on a table? a pedestal? the floor? a shelf attached to the wall? a shelf hanging from the ceiling? something else? Can I lift it? If yes, is there anything under it? Can I lift it high enough to look at the underside? if yes, is there anything attached to the underside? written on the underside? The full names of the rest of the original cast was James T Kirk, Spock (I don't think he has a scond name,) Hikaru Sulu, Leonard McCoy, Pavel Chekov, Nyota Uhura, Christine Chapel, and Janice Rand. The miniature church makes me think that we're looking for either Kirk or Chapel for this room... |

No The full names of the rest of the original cast was James T Kirk, Spock (I don't think he has a scond name,) Hikaru Sulu, Leonard McCoy, Pavel Chekov, Nyota Uhura, Christine Chapel, and Janice Rand. The miniature church makes me think that we're looking for either Kirk or Chapel for this room...Kirk:-) Got the church part? |

Well, a church can also be called a kirk, so put the church in the transporter, please, and let's see if that's enough. I don't know where I'm going to get either "James", "James T." or "Captain" with only the calendar to work with... |

Go back, get a uniform of the appropriate style, color, and insignia for Kirk to wear from the garment rack, fold it and set it in the transporter with the church.OK, and nothing happens Blooper Alert! In the description of the second room, forgot a hatstand, right next to the transporter I think Kirk was from Iowa, so if you need a map bit as well, try putting the Iowa section in there?Put it in, still nothing happens And by the way, in the last room, the hand without the middle finger was for Scott: The actor playing him was missing a finger! |

Humph. I need something to make the syllable "ten" then... Page through the calendar until you find a page which includes the number "10". Tear that page off, and fold it so that the "10" is the only part of the date showing. Use one or two of the paperclips you said you had in your pocket to fasten that piece of paper to the Sox cap so that the "10" shows under the brim. You now have a "capped ten" -- put it in the transporter with the model church. |

I'm guessing this is Spock, as there was a Benjamin Spock who was an american childcare expert, which makes sense with the alphabet puzzle, and possibly the doll house? is the picture of abba? I guess the vulcan harp would also be relevant.. try putting the harp and the alphabet book in the transporter? and if there is a uniform for Spock put that as well |

Is it human furniture or alien (Vulcan) furniture? If I bring the toy church from the Kirk room and set the house and the church next to each other I could (almost) have: "Two houses, both alike in dignity...", where an ambassador is needed to reconcile them. Particularly the Vulcan/Romulan split... Is the band the one here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.P.O.C.K. If so I put the picture on the transporter. Oh, I break up the puzzle and put the pieces in the transporter too (since one of Spock's functions is to solve puzzles). |

I use the letters to spell as much of "ambassador" as I can and put that on the transporter. If there is only one "a" and one "s" this will obviously be difficult, so... Is there a tiny musical instrument or wall-mounted fish in the dollhouse? If so, and since the doors can be removed, I take an M (or an A and M) from the puzzle, the bass and front door off the doll house and arrange them like so on the transporter: M-bass-a door S.P.O.C.K. |

Any reaction when I put it on the transporter? Is the position of the nut in regard to the figure relevant? I put the nut: -next to the figure -balanced on the figure's head -under the figure, which is balanced on top -in front of the figure -behind the figure Do I need something more? |
