Exactly. *****SPOILER The common wisdom that female praying mantises eat their mates comes from very flawed observations mainly by one researcher. It is very rarely observed in the wild, but if the poor insect is kept in inferior conditions in a lab, she is forced to eat her mate to have enough energy to lay eggs. Good work.
