They = two people? More than two people? More than 100 people? More than a million people? They = a nation? Are they actually human? JFK = equivalent of John Fitzgerald Kennedy (the person)? JFK the airport? Kennedy the space centre? Is assassination relevant? Is scrabble relevant? Is the title relevant? Anything to do with dancing? |

Is it an event in another country which is equated with the JFK assassination as everyone remembers where they were when they heard about it? Death of someone else famous? Longshot this but Princess Diana's death relevant? |

This is a longshot but i'm gonna go for it anyway! Anything to do with breaking into a TV transmission? Is a girl who lived in the alps relevant? Even in Ireland we've heard of the "Heidi Game" but I don't know when it happened? Are the Oakland Raiders relevant? Or maybe the NY Jets ( I think they were playing that day} |

A football instant replay that was shown incessantly as a catch was made "back and to the left," where the referees' decision took away a vital win from a team? |

Is it similar to JFK because the video was watched over and over again, trying to work out if something was possible or what happened? Like the "magic bullet", where people tried to work out if one bullet could conceivably have travelled through a certain path? |

Well I don't know the rules of American football, but I was imagining something like wtahcing the replay to see whether a ball was past the line, or a player was offside (do you have that rule?), or whther a player committed a foul? Would the decision have affected whether a goal was allowed or not? Whether a team would win or not? Whether someone had broken the rules or not? |

Was it during a game? If not, was it the Patriots filming their opponents? Otherwise, I remember watching a Superbowl a couple years back, where a bad call cost someone the game, but I'm not a fan so I don't remember the specific teams involved. Was it the Seahawks? |

Fumble or recovery? Where the ball is under a dozen squirming men and no one can tell who's holding it and whether it's touched the ground? Or were they unsure if someone or something was out of bounds? Did they measure the field? |

Nice puzzle, American Football has a small following here in Ireland and I am quite a fan. I support the Chicago Bears because when I started watching the sport in 1985 their quaterback was Jim McMahon which is my father's name. They won the superbowl that year but haven't done so since. Talking of immaculate receptions in my opinion the Franco Harris catch doesn't hold a candle to the reception in this year's Superbowl where the NY Giant's guy caught the ball by basically clamping it against his helmet during the game winning drive. Amazing! |
