We all saw what had happened and it was mildly amusing, but when Josh pointed it out we all laughed for a different reason. What had he said to make us laugh? |

Was there something about Josh that made what he said funny? If someone else made the comment would it have made you laugh? Would knowing what happened help to solve the puzzle? Did Josh point out something that was obvious? Or something that no one realized had Josh not said it? |

~damia~ (~damia~) do you mean there were 4 people total? or 4 in your group plus Josh? 4 in my group including Josh, there were lots of others around us too, including the person to whom the mildly amusing thing happened or 4 plus someone else? 5 total? 6? 7? were there any accidents? yes-ish ('ish' because accident seems a strong word for it injuries? did someone fall over? was anything damaged? no to rest is where you were relevant? yes outside? yes Rubberduck (Rubberduck) Was there something about Josh that made what he said funny? yes If someone else made the comment would it have made you laugh? only a very small minority of people would have made us laugh (for the reason we did) by pointing out what had happened Would knowing what happened help to solve the puzzle? yes Did Josh point out something that was obvious? yes, but that wasn't why it was funny Or something that no one realized had Josh not said it? no |

Time for a RECAP I think We were in a queue for a ride at a theme park, when something happened to some we weren't with. It was quite funny in itself, but when Josh, who was enjoying his first trip to Britain (although it would still make sense in the U.S.) from Australia, pointed out what had happened, everyone was laughing for a different reason. |

Did Josh imply that the incident was somehow a typical British occurrence? That it reflected something about British culture? Did he pronounce a word with a strong Aussie accent, that made it sound like something else? Was the fact that he was speaking English relevant at all? or would it still be funny if he had made a comment of equivalent meaning in another language? |

Hmm... I'm not that familiar with the peculiarities of Australian English--maybe someone who is can help. In the mean time, I will ask some background questions. So since you keep reiterating the fact that this was while waiting for a ride at a theme park: Was the person to whom the mishap happened also waiting? Already one the ride? Getting off the ride? Did someone get scared? vomit? |

Was the ride one that essentially just spins you around in a circle? a freefall ride (where you are lifted straight up and let go)? a roller coaster? none of these? Relevant? Did some object, for example a hat, fall from the ride as it was operating, causing the owner to lose it? Is any object (aside from, of course, the parts of the ride itself) relevant to the mishap? |

Was the lost object an article of clothing? Relevant what it was, or just that it fell? Was Josh's comment just something to the effect of the object falling (like "that guy just lost his _______")? Or was the funny part something else--for instance, what the object hit when it landed? |

Maybe someone needs to create a list of clothing for this board... though in this particular instance, the possibilities seem to be very limited. Was it a sweater? jacket? shirt? extra pair of socks? (I know that's random, but maybe one got wet on another ride, who knows what happens in lateral puzzles?) Is it purely which article of clothing that was relevant, or is it something else? size? color? material? |

Is footwear clothing? I'm classing it as so I would categorize it as clothing too. I guess I just assumed that shoes would not come off people's feet on a ride, and that they wouldn't bring extra pairs on a ride either. I guess if the roller coaster cars were bottomless, loosely fitting shoes could fall off. Anyway, I'll wait for the answers to Ostap's questions before asking anything more. |

We all saw it fall, but Josh shouted "look at that guy's thong, it's slipped off", which sounded like something else entirely and lots of school-boy like giggling ensued Thank you everyone, I'll post some new puzzles soon. |
