It had begun. Though it would take some time, it was inevitable they'd be trapped.

There you go.

Hm...1st "it" the sams as 2nd "it"?
Is something closing? A doorway? Some type of exit?

Are they H? A? M? How many: 1-5? 6-12? 12-100? 100-1000?

'They' = more than one? adults? humans? males? females? combination of males and females?

'They' = 2? 3? 4? more?

Were they trapped in the end? relevant? Was it inevitable that they'd get trapped: to them? to someone else?

'It' (...had happened) = 'it' (...would take some time)?

********BLOOPER*******(already, yeesh)
First 'it' and second 'it' are the same, I was looking at second and third 'it' (durrh). Also, I hadn't thought of a different perspective in this situation, so best to catch it early: from a different perspective, 'they' could be humans. In that case, gender is irrelevant and age could be approximately 4+. Whew, sorry. That being said:

'They' = more than one? Yes. adults? humans? males? females? combination of males and females? Could be.

'They' = 2? 3? 4? more? 2-4, only slightly relevant

Were they trapped in the end? Yes. relevant? Sure. Was it inevitable that they'd get trapped: Yes. Not sure I understand what you're asking with the rest. to them? to someone else?

'It' (...had happened) = 'it' (...would take some time)? Yes! This being the correction in the blooper (one last DURRH necessary).

sorry for the confusion, I'll ask it another way:

Did they know that it was inevitable?

Did they know that it was inevitable? Yes, the people knew it was inevitable. Careful with false assumptions of perspective.

Is the game Mousetrap involved?

Just wow.

******************SPOILER....already...**************

The game of mousetrap is an entertaining little Rube Goldberg device. Once the crank is turned, the plastic mice awaiting beneath the cage are almost inevitably trapped (the exception being if you set the game up wrong).

The confusion of perspective here bgine the players represented by the plastic mice.

Good one, Llama, and fast too. Did the title give it away, or was it purely your brain-power?

I was a Mousetrap fan as a kid, although I could rarely get it to work properly. When the confusion about the perspective came up, the thought just came to me. I thought it would be wrong as my wild early guesses usually are, but I'm sorry I didn't email it first and that I caused it to be over so quickly

I loved watching that work. Reminds me of The Incredible Machine, a gangstah computer game series. Though I don't remember if I actually got to play any of the games, I know it took some lateral thinking.

I used to have that, The even more Incredible Machine, TIM2, and The incredible Toon Machine. Fun stuff, if you like Rube Goldberg devices.
