To many people, the fact that he died wasn't even the most tragic part. As always, early spoilers e-mail please! |

He: H/A/M? Manner of death relevant? If so: Murder? Suicide? Natural causes? Accident? Illness? Injury? Drowning? Asphixiation? Immolation? Electrocution? Poison? Is the most tragic part: the reason or manner in which he died? What he left behind? Something else that occoured around the time of his death? The events preceding his death? Did anyone else die or suffer injury? |

Title relevant? 'To many people, the fact....' Does this mean that not everybody felt this way? Were there a few who would not have this point of view? If so, do these people who consider 'his' death as not tragic compared to other events, belong to a certain group or have something in common? How many more people relevant? 1? 2? 3? Less than 10? More than 10? 100? 1000? |

Title relevant? 'To many people, the fact....' Does this mean that not everybody felt this way? Not everyone feels this way. Everyone has different views, so what everything considers "the most tragic part" differs. There was controversy over this subject, though, and many were very upset. Were there a few who would not have this point of view? Yes. If so, do these people who consider 'his' death as not tragic compared to other events, belong to a certain group or have something in common? Possibly, but most likely no, not all. How many more people relevant? 1? 2? 3? Less than 10? More than 10? 100? 1000? No one is really relevant except the people mentioned and the person who killed him. Is he a god? No. |

is he alive? This is hard to answer. I'll just tell you-- he's a fictional character in a book, so no he isn't alive, but he's a living organism in the story so yes he's alive. is he a plant, or a tree? no. |

The most tragic part--Was it: The fact that he was betrayed (seemingly) by Snape, who he thought was on the good side? That Snape really WAS on the good side, but Harry couldn't know it? The fact that Dumbledore weakened himself terribly to retrieve a Horcrux that turned out to be fake? That Dumbledore never knew the Horcrux wasn't real? Something else? OTRT? |

Was the most tragic part when people found out about Dumbledore's earlier life? No. The most tragic part happened outside of the book, after Dumbledore died. It's a short jump from here. |

Did this tragedy occur at a specific time? If so, was it before Book 7 was released? After? Is information revealed in Book 7 relevant to this tragedy? Anything to do with either of the actors (Richard Harris or Michael Gambon) who played Dumbledore in the films? Anything to do with the fact that Richard Harris died during filming of the series? |

The information revealed in Book 7 is that Dumbledore died. What the FANS do with this knowledge is the tragedy. Anything to do with either of the actors (Richard Harris or Michael Gambon) who played Dumbledore in the films? Anything to do with the fact that Richard Harris died during filming of the series? Neither of these. |

Was it tragic that people told other fans that Dumbledore died before those fans had a chance to read the book? Absolutely. Good enough for a... ********SPOILER********* Many fans were excited about the release of the sixth Harry Potter book. However, days, even hours after the book's debut, many fans began to wear T-shirts, bearing the phrase: "Dumbledore Dies on Page 596". Many were outraged by this news, some even deeming it worse than Dumbledore's death. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO PLAYED. Thanks to Flemsneezy for summing up the answer in one sentence, very nicely done. Significance of title: There is a spell in Harry Potter that allows the user to use their wand as a flashlight, seemingly conjuring light out of nowhere. |
