I really enjoyed Gourami's blirring puzzle, though my word and definition have nothing to do with hers, only the fact that I am asking you to define a brand new word. So...I've made up a new verb. It's called giospotiping. Some people do this every day. Some for hours and hours. Others don't do it at all. In fact, some people never do it in their entire lives. Back in the good old days, this was never ever done. How does one giospotip? |

Not really, but DOYD of "doing more than one thing at once", does clicking a mouse and chewing gum count? What a good excuse to use your new acronym huh? Does it involve one particular website? Not one in particular, no. |

Is giospotiping related to the types of websites one visits? What actions one performs on the internet? The browser one uses in using the internet? Is email involved in any way? Do you "noishly" know whether Alhucema giospotipes because she: visits the LTPF? Has a yahoo email address? Do you, for the same reasons, "noishly" know whether I do this? Or can you answer that question more definitively for me? |

No Is email involved in any way? Not really Do you "noishly" know whether Alhucema giospotipes because she: visits the LTPF? Yes, she could giospotip on the LTPF Has a yahoo email address? No Do you, for the same reasons, "noishly" know whether I do this? Well, I would at first say the same for you. But since you asked, after a little investigation, it's more of a definitive "Yes" for you and Gourami. And it's not just because you visit the LTPF. Or can you answer that question more definitively for me? See above |

Does/can it involve typing on an internet forum? Blogging? You said that giospotiping can be done on the LTPF. If we did it here, could it be done: reading through chatroom posts? adding to the chatroom? reading through active puzzles? solved puzzles? classic puzzles? asking questions on an active puzzle? being a puzzle-setter? Let's imagine that a nuclear holocaust has taken place, only one person is still alive and the internet is still up and running with no reduction of service. Can this person still giospotipe? If so, would the pleasure gained through this pursuit be lessened by the fact that no-one else can read/see what they're doing? |

Okay. I get up in the morning, at school I use the Internet (mainly Wikipedia), copy some text from there and save it, get back home, restart my BitTorrent download, log on to Facebook, reply to all the pending requests and all, log on to LTPF, have a look at the new puzzles/responses, reply to any if needed, go to BBC/ESPNSTAR to check for football news, and...that's it. Have I giospotipped at any time during the day? Or do I have to be even more specific about my actions for you to know? |

It involves doing all of the above things, and mainly using one's eyes, but I would still say this is mostly a mental activity, not a physical one. So. Giospotipping involves opening a page, reading, thinking, using the keyboard, and using the mouse. It does not involve directly responding to someone or writing. It can be done without involving anyone else (ish). Am I good so far? Is giospotipping making some kind of decision? Analyzing words to find an underlying meaning? Adding to the number of "hits" a page gets? Pulling up a new window or tab from an existing one? Changing the settings on your computer? On a website? |

To say it can be done without involving anyone else is a Noish... It would be better to say you can (and probably do) this alone. Is giospotipping making some kind of decision? No Analyzing words to find an underlying meaning? This. Adding to the number of "hits" a page gets? Pulling up a new window or tab from an existing one? Changing the settings on your computer? The acronym is 'one-to-one' (each letter for one individual word, as in 'IBM') or includes parts of words (as in Benelux, let's say)? If includes parts of words, the constituting letters are in the right order or scrambled ? (I don't know why from the description and the format I can only see 'gossip' in that) |

Is the activity related to giving feedback? Responding to someone's concerns? Generally, responding to questions one might have (and express) ? If yes to any of the above and since 'writing' is not part of the definition, simple thoughts about how one would react can be qualified as 'giospotiping'? So far we have: G____ i___ on someone's p___ o_ t___ internet posts. G is similar to getting, but isn't going or giving. Is it get? Guess? Got? Go? I just noticed that we've been guessing gerunds ("ing" words), but the original verb is a verb, not a gerund. Is the first i:information? interests? in? incognito? The o: online? offline? The first p: personal? page? profile? personality? How about: Get information on someone's personal online through internet posts? (can't be quite right...personal and online don't fit together) |

Maybe what Noel said, but with "personal opinion" rather than "personal online"? If so, it could mean that rather than ask for someone's opinion (e.g. political leanings) directly, you try to glean it from where and what they post online. |

(Noel) G= gather? This! ~~~~~~~~~~~$poiler~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So...I've made up a new verb. It's called giospotiping. Some people do this every day. Some for hours and hours. Others don't do it at all. In fact, some people never do it in their entire lives. Back in the good old days, this was never ever done. How does one giospotip? Giospotip = Gathering information on someone's personality over their internet posts. Very well done all, and kudo's to Gourami for the inspiration, as well as making me think of this puzzle. I kept giospotiping every time I worked on one of her puzzles, as I got to know another band she likes! Also, in case anyone was curious, when Logician and Gourami asked me if I knew if they giospotiped, I looked their emails up on facebook figuring it's pretty likely they do if they ever use their profile. New puzzle will be up soon, you know where, and I have others that need some questions! |
