"This" [which has been stated] = "this" [which is the exception]?
Does "this expression" refer to previous two sentences? To one? to both? To both taken together?
Is this a romanization of a mathematical expression, like "five times three is fifteen" (5x3=15)? An abstract mathematical expression? (not a mathematician, so "abstract" might be meaningless).
could "there is no end" be expressed as an ellipsis? I mean the standard three dots -->[...]

Good puzzle, however the title was a bit of a give-away for anyone with a sound knowledge of music or who has watched the movie "Ghost" :-)

Would be tougher if you're a bit more cryptic!
