Most Americans have a passive scrund about the American Presidency. But you don't have to be an American to have this scrund or to solve this puzzle. |

Is the scrund about: Eligibility for being president? Responsibilities of the president? What the president is allowed to do? What the president is not allowed to do? Limitations of powers? Term limits? Voting? Inauguration? The current president? Past presidents? Future presidents? A specific president? Or all presidents past, present, and future? |

Is it relevant that a former President, like Cleveland did, is able to run for a second term years after their first term has ended? Is it relevant that FDR served 4 terms as President, whereas constitutionally everyone after him has only been able to serve 2 terms? You didn't answer the question, put by Noel, about whether their inauguration is relevant: is it? |

Is the scrund about elections? Is the scrund only about presidents, or could it apply to other American politicians? Presidents of other countries? Leaders of other countries? If the scrund could apply to a single, specific president OR (with appropriate rephrasing) to all past presidents, does that mean we don't need to find the specific president to work out the scrund? If not, LTPF list of US presidents, please. Is anyone besides the president(s) relevant? If so, 1 person? 2? More? Any particular location/area relevant? Any particular era of American history? |

Is political party relevant? Political influence? I forget, is there a difference between normal scrunds and passive scrunds? Relevant: Appearance of the President? Other jobs the President has held before becoming President? Since leaving the Presidency? Family relations of the President? Friends of the President? Business relations of the president? The President's political opponents? Or supporters? Or appointees? The vice-president? Electors? Voters? |

Scrunds can be divided into active & passive. An active scrund involves a false belief you've thought about, such as my belief that Christian doctrine held that Jesus turned leopards back into men. A passive scrund involves something you've taken for granted but never actually thought about. You realize that you had a passive scrund when you learn a new fact that comes as a surprise. BLOOOPERRRRALERTTTTTTTTTT!!. I am going to post a *** SPOILER *********** because I'm afraid this puzzle rests on a blooperrrrrrr. The original idea was based on a column I read saying that, technically, President Clinton was a Cherokee. So the passive scrund was that no U.S. President had ever been a member of a racial minority. But I have since learned that this claim about Clinton is very dubious. So I am spoiling with puzzle, apologizing, & posting a new one. Sorry!!!!! |
