My dad would probably have got it quickier... The story is actually quite simple, so I decided on purpose not to give too many details. Hope you enjoy it! |

Is his occupation relevant? Him being older? Growing up during different times? Is the action difficult? In learning it, does it help to understand the purpose of the action? If so, did he have a better understanding of it that you? Or does it help to have done similar actions earlier? Or used similar objects? Or identical objects? Is the action part of a sport? Does it require: strength? Precision? Stamina? Is it done with: hands? Feet? Legs? Arms? Mouth? Head? Body? |

Is it a CD player? Any CD player? Or is there something specific about this unit? Is the action: inserting a disc? Ejecting it? Cleaning it? Playing it? Programming it? Does the relevant experience involve record players? Laserdisc players? The early days of CD players? |

Clarification: "programming it" = "programming the CD player (or whatever the device is)" |

Relevant that in record players, you put the disc down with the playable side up? While in most CD players, you put it with the playable side down? Did this specific CD player require the disc to be inserted the other way around? |

Relevant that in record players, you put the disc down with the playable side up? YES!!! While in most CD players, you put it with the playable side down? Yes again! Did this specific CD player require the disc to be inserted the other way around? Exactly!!! Well it's already time for ****************** SPOILER ***************** Last weekend i was at my mum's place, she had bought a new cd player and asked me to set it up. I did all the connection, then tried to play a cd, but the player did not seem to work. After a while I noticed that the cd support had no hole for the laser light to pass, but it was plain and solid; I guessed the laser was placed above the disc support, so that the cd had to be put with playable side up, which indeed worked. I wanted to use this story for a puzzle, so I supposed that someone who has mainly played vinyl records in his life, i.e. someone older enough than me such as my dad, would have got it immediately as it would have been logic for him to put the playable side of a disc up, just because vinyl records are played that way. Well it was shorter than what I expected, but still I hope you enjoyed it! Thanks to everyone who played! |
