This puzzle aims at discovering my LTPF password. Being old enough, I fear other things than passwords.

Early spoylers -- and good hackers -- please email.

Puzzle statement : I am hungry!

Good luck!

Is the puzzle statement a quote? Is wordplay relevant?

This is odd - half of me wants to solve this, but the other half doesn't want to know the password.

'Old enough', and I think you're a few years younger than I! What's funny is that the people I know who are most afraid of getting "hacked" are either several years younger than I (in their mid 20's), or several years older (late 50's, early 60's), but most people in the 30-40 range don't seem to mind it much.

Is the password related to food? A specific food product? A category of food? A trade name for a food?
Is it related to being hungry? Having an empty stomach? A growling stomach?

I noticed the same thing. There are people who do not know if they have the key to their room, but are happy because their facebook account is secure :=) )

Tolkien, famed also for writing "The Lord of The Rings", "The Silmarillion", etc., etc....where Matt's name comes from. I was guessing the Dwarf lord, not Matt. *grin*

You might want to change it now you've been infested with woodworm .... You mean the password? Hmmm... I work in the IT business for a decade now, I changed it some time ago :=)

Which reminds me ... I'm sure you'll enjoy this: I left the office early today, around 12:00, just to find my wife very worried about where I was. I send her a text message that I am going to be a gondoliere in the nice town of Venice. Disturbed and angry, he called me to say she does not approve that way of living. I calmed her down, saying that I left the office trying to find a solution to one of Mr Woodworm puzzles. She called me back, from the Murano island, to tell me: it was nicer when you wanted to be a gondoliere. So Howard, I need to solve your 26 trombones, to keep my job at least :=)

You do get a secretary to answer phones, however, just as soon as we get more than three citizens. Pantagruel is your password. Or, perhaps I should say, Pantagruel is my password.

Hang on, hang on: it accepts anything with the first eight letters. Pantagruff. Pantagrump. All that stuff. What the ... ?

No, Pantagruel is not. By revealing your identity, we may chat more easily. It's a bit odd arguing with myself. :=)

Heheh. I get the feeling I'm trying to guess Rumpelstiltskin's name while he keeps changing it.

This, as we say in England, is not cricket (you know, that game where you score goals by throwing a ball between two stumps ...)

Well, Pantagruel worked ... and Gargantua didn't. Obviously I tried Gargantua first, as he was the daddy, and there are only two well-known porky guzzlers in (what little I know of) C16th French lit.

I confess I was the Razvan Bruma of 11.15 and 8,28, but not the other ones.

Hilarious thread, anyway, and I think Rabelais would approve. :-)

I need a beer ....

But what does this mean about my citizenship?

Nice puzzle, and I promise: no hacking from me =)

Now that you mention, it makes sense. The password was indeed gargantua, but I change it to pantagruelx, to avoid situations like the ones above (talking to myself). I wasn't aware that the program will not accept more that a certain number of characters, so my added "x" was nothing.

The machine beated the man, one more time. Now I should change it one more time.... Let's name it rabelaiss? No, I know of a password that even Woodworm will have a difficult time to guess :=)

Thanks to all who participated.
