He= H? A? M? Can we call him Maurice? They = A group? H? A? M? F? [LTPF list of integers] people? The offer = a business offer? A peace treaty? Is this true? FYOI? FSEI? From a work of fiction (such as a book/movie)? |

Transgender people involved? Transsexuals? Hermaphrodites? Did a woman dress up as a man and walk over to several "women" to propose marriage and find out they were really men? Or like this only reverse the men and the women? Men dressing up as women relevant? Other way around? |

Not one of those hilarious rejected marriage proposals at a ball game? No, but those do intend to be hilarious. Nor is the now infamous Astros' "Bailer" relevant. Transgender people involved? Transsexuals? Hermaphrodites? Did a woman dress up as a man and walk over to several "women" to propose marriage and find out they were really men? Or like this only reverse the men and the women? Men dressing up as women relevant? Other way around? No to all - proposals are irrelevant. To clarify the "in one sense" bit, the characters are one HAM and 5 HAFs, but the actors are one HTM and 5 HTFs; however, this is still a tongue-in-cheek puzzle. Sorry for the confusion. |

Yes Like, the original has a really hot guy trying to get a female or two in to bed with him, Not really - beds are not relevant, although the joke does concern the "hotness" of the females. while in the spoof/parody the HAM was not so attractive, lol? Is the original on of those truly annoying commercials? Depends on who you ask, though I would certainly say Yes. There are many, many commercials that are much more annoying though. Does the HAM in the original come up with a cheesy comment that no woman would fall for in real life? No. HINT: The woman in the original is a spokesmodel. Is the spokesmodel a redhead? Irrel You don't need to know anything more about the original commercial to solve the puzzle; I will RECAP: In a parody of a commercial for a furniture store, the "pitchman" makes an offer that causes the "spokesmodels" to leave. This could work for other types of stores, as long as there was at least one "spokesmodel" and someone to make the offer. And none of the "spokesmodels" speak. |

Does the offer include all the women that left? Yes, and I think we can wrap this one up. **********SPOILER********** But first, the backstory: My high school used to have a competition leading up to our winter retreat where all the students would be divided into 10-12 or so groups, and each group would have to make a video around a certain theme. During my sophomore year (the last year we had this competition), the theme was that we had to include three certain words ("phantasmagoric," "zymurgy," and "juglandaceous") in the video. Now, for the puzzle part: The group I was in decided to do a parody of a bunch of popular commercials (Head-On and the like). One of these was a parody of commercials for "Bob's Discount Furniture," and in the parody video, "Bob" (actually me) offers a set of furniture for sale, "women included," parodying the spokesmodels for that store, who would sit on the furniture (usually couches) being sold in the commercial. The commercial itself ends with the "spokesmodels" running out of the room. Perhaps the video can help make things clearer. The relevant parody starts at the 1:43 mark. Nice job, Eli, for knocking off most of that yourself. But if you act now...no, I can't come up with anything funny. |

So it is...Monitto is a last name I've never heard before. Very unique. :-) In Spanish I suppose it'd be something like "little Moni", depending on what "Moni" means (this is why my friend Susana's father-in-law does not want Susana's son calling him "Abuelito", just "Abuelo". At the moment, Seb manages "Abo", which is adorable.) |

Coming late to the party, but it may be something akin to Edmundson and those types of names. I found a link between Monitto and the French surname Monette, which seems to be derived from the kind of patronymic tradition of names ("Hey, your family's chief/father/Head Whatsit is Weeblflobsig Ebtorson, so we're going to name you Poinak Weeblflobsigson"). Monette can apparently come from Hamon or Edmond (or theoretically any name that can have a shortened form with 'mon' [Edmondo -> Mondo in Spanish, por ejemplo]), so it's possible that's where your name comes from. Info gathered over a short period of time and from online sources, so take with about a gallon of salt, but you never know -- it could be right. Yay genealogy/name origin stuff! (And yay for far more info than you cared to know!) |
