For Doriana I must act to steer her off of the wrong track. And by this rhyme I meant, her guesses are irrelevant. My sister dear did find the track, to the puzzle's end, and back. This game took place in San Jose, and it was our family that did play. |

This game that challenged you geographically, Did it have the initials of T.P.? If it's so, and blue piece you pursued fruitlessly I should bow out, for I know it, most probably. |

Let's mix up the rhyming scheme a bit... Wiggledy woggledy Trivial Pursuit is the Game which you played, I think: Is this correct? If not, the game is placed Subcategorically Into "board"? "Card"? Or some Other subject? |

Indeed, indeed, the game's T.P., and from it I had my epiphany. My mental image did unskew, whilst I was pursuing that wedge of blue. Oh dear sister, you know me well. I pray the answer, you do not tell. |

Was the scrund that you had broken down By a question given on your round? Is the scrund of a nation, A place of creation, A state, sea, lake, river, or town? The scrund was broken, when I heard the answer. Though who the question was for, I do not remember. And for the sake of this puzzle, it does not matter. The scrund itself was of a nation, and it's geographical location. |

This country's part of Europe, and this much I knew. I thought it was just coastal, and while this is true, there is more to this story, to guess it's up to you. I guess it's also fair to tell, I didn't know its neighbors well. |

Indeed the country's on an isle, and I didn't think it was for a while. What surprised me more was its neighbors, my mind may have thought they were more like strangers. As for Peter365, his info gave me another suprise. My sister dear explained to me, so now my scrund will no longer be. My original scrund has not yet been told, is anybody yet so bold, as to make a guess to what is was, when my head seemed full of fuzz? |

So on the isle, is it alone? Or are its neighbors found there, too? Is the Atlantic its dear home? Or a sea or channel blue? Within the Atlantic Ocean, this island lies. Some of the country's neighbors are on it too, which gave me much surprise. I knew one neighbor was on an island, but this country I did not. So when I learned 'twas the same island, it made my poor jaw drop. |

For Gregoryuconn you are very near, the new scrund that my sister dear, did break has to do with Ireland, as well as Northern "Mireland". The country that this puzzle's scrund regards, lies very close to to Irelund. Though I knew that Greenland is very cold, and Iceland's greenery is most bold. |

*****SPOILER***** Indeed Scotland is within this kingdom, although my mind did not know. And when the answer to the question was read, this information surprised me so. Now I do believe it's time, for me to break this silly rhyme. I decided to spoil this puzzle now because the entire scrund involved the United Kingdom. For some reason, my mind just never placed Scotland on the same island with England as the United Kingdom. I would hear UK and think England only before this game of Trivial Pursuit was played (sometime while I was in High School I believe). As it turns out, I never understood the entire story. Until the other day, when my sister explained the whole geography of the British Isles I never completely seperated Wales and Scotland in my mind. I also didn't realize that the UK was formed by so many countries and that the whole archipelago had so many different words to name all of the different parts. I was never really good at geography, and this just confirms it. What is more sad is that my favorite show, as many of you know, is filmed in Cardiff and my mind couldn't decide whether it was in England or Scotland, and then I learned it was in Wales, and was dumbfounded. At this point I just feel very silly, and I appologize to anyone who may live on the British Isles for my ignorance. |

yes, my Tortiesibling has been informed :-) Northern Ireland is also referred to as Ulster, is it not? Oh dear oh dear oh dear. You are right of course that Northern Ireland is often referred to as Ulster but this is geographically incorrect. The Island of Ireland (when Ireland was all one country) was divided into 4 ancient kingdoms now known as provinces namely : Ulster, Leinster, Connaught & Munster. Ulster which covers most of the northern third of the country contains 9 counties which are : Donegal, Derry, Antrim, Down, Armagh, Tyrone, Fermanagh, Monaghan & Cavan. Now here's the confusing bit . Only 6 of those counties form the state that is Northern Ireland and therefore are part of the United Kingdom. Donegal Monahgan & Cavan are in the Republic of Ireland (yes i know it's strange that two different states divide one province but Ireland has had a strange history). As a Monaghan man myself It drives me scatty when people refer to Northern Ireland as Ulster. I'm from Ulster but am not from Northern Ireland. The main culprits of this tend to be Northern Unionists who forget about the one third of Ulster that does not belong to the UK. Totally accept that this is confusing and you won't be the first or last to make this mistake but you've just waved a very red rag to this cranky bull. I jest of course as I've heard this so many times it no longer bothers me but thought I'd put you straight on this. For such a small country we've got one heck of a past. This should help explain There endeth the lesson |

Hence my careful wording of 'referred to' as Ulster...I actually knew that, but I was fairly sure my Tortiesibling didn't, and figured a true Irishman could outline it better than me. *pets Tortiesibling, hoping brain shall not explode or implode again* I'm very sorry to have upset you, Peter :-( Truly, I did understand that "Northern Ireland" and "Ulster" were not exactly the same. I just knew Tortie didn't know, and I felt inadequate at explaining. |

Sorry for posting more. All I actually knew was that "All of Northern Ireland is Ulster, but not all of Ulster is Northern Ireland." I would have been useless at explaining after that. I'm glad you stepped up. By the way, my best friend in 9th grade (when I was 14; my first year of high school), who was in 12th grade herself (she was 17) was Jody Monaghan. Monaghan is a good name, even though I did not know it was Irish until now, which just makes it better. I, too, am partially Irish (though I think some of my ancestry is from the Republic, and some from Northern Ireland.) |

No apology necessary Kaylee. I was feigning outrage really . This is so old hat that it no longer bothers we southern Ulster folk. You should definately check out your Irish ancestry, there are some Census records on-line that date back to the start of the 20th century. All you need is a name and roughly where they lived. Monaghan is indeed a good name. In the Irish language it means "Land of the little hills" although the etymology is a little contrived. My best mate's surname is Monaghan which is cool because that's where he's from. In fact there are many other examples of surnames that are Irish Counties such as Dion Dublin (Soccer) , Dominic Cork (Cricketer), John Kerry (Presidential Candidate) , Doctor Kildare (you are probably a bit too young to remember the TV series of that name) Inspector Wexford (Ruth Rendell's fictional detective) James Galway (Flautist) and probably a few more. In fact Ireland itself is a not unheard of surname. A chap called Stephen Ireland has actually played international football for Ireland. Come to think of it Matt Holland has also played for Ireland, Joe Jordan and Alan Brazil have played for Scotland, Jason Scotland plays for Trinidad & Tobago and most strangely Mike England played for Wales (There's a puzzle in here just bursting to get out) Ok I know , I'm starting to ramble. |

You're right...the only place I've ever seen the name "Doctor Kildare" before was from a mention of one of Harriet's classmates, in the book "Harriet the Spy", when the fifth-graders are all deciding who they should dress up as, for a themed costumed dance, or something like that...one of them said "Dr. Kildare and Ben Casey" should be involved. I never understood the reference. It's TV then? Definitely before my time though. I haven't read the book since I was about twelve, so over a decade ago, and I didn't remember that name until you mentioned it. And rambling is good. The only one I recognized out of the "county names" is, of course, John Kerry, though I don't know all that much about him, lol. Other than that he lost to President Bush in the 2004 election. Definitely there's a puzzle in there somewhere, though. I like rambling. :-) |
