During WWII, Australian soldiers had a habit of assigning nicknames to geographical features. (Other countries, less imaginatively, used numbers.) One hill they encountered in New Guinea was named Horace, because, viewed from the air, it resembled the Disney character Horace Horsecollar. It was large enough that different parts of the "horse" could be referred to during planning. Other locations were named for hometown bars, officers, and girls.

Luckily, this was before the Disney Corporation had a belligerent legal department.
