So, the first danger was financial loss and the second was a physical danger, right?

Was the first danger an attempted criminal offense? The second one? If yes, did he try to resist the first and consequently was treated violently? Like trying to prevent a theft?

The location : Relevant the geographical location (state, country, town, etc)? The physical setting (in the mountains, at the sea, etc)? Whether he was inside or outside? If inside, the type of building?

Are any other persons relevant? If so: 1? 2? more? H/A/M? H/A/F? Mixed?

Was the attempted theft being perpetrated while he was in the mountains? Before? After? We are talking about theft in the sense of people stealing valuables from others and facing prosecution, not in the sense that an animal tried to steal his food, correct?

The physical danger: remaining stranded on the mountain in dangerous conditions? Drowning? Falling off a cliff? Weather relevant? Wild animals?

The financial loss: money as such? Or an object of a certain value?

Was he in physical danger while still in the mountains?

Is the item that he tried to prevent being stolen: a physical object? Animate? Inanimate? Bigger than a golf ball? a breadbox? a fax machine? Is it a piece of clothing? a luggage? a knapsack? a pair of binoculars?

Did he try to hide it? lock it? Conceal its value while not physically locking or hiding it?

Was he put in danger at the moment of locking / hiding it, or afterwards?

Is the item slight FA that he tried to prevent being stolen: a physical object? yes Animate? Inanimate? this Bigger than a golf ball? this only a breadbox? a fax machine? Is it a piece of clothing? a luggage? it was in the luggage, yes a knapsack? a pair of binoculars?

Did he try to hide it? lock it? Conceal its value while not physically locking or hiding it? neither in fact. You may call it hiding, but it's very inaccurate

Was he put in danger at the moment of locking / hiding it, or afterwards? I assume you mean the second, physical danger, if so, he was in danger when only he came to the mountain area

Relevant that it's harder to breathe at high altitudes? Is an inhaler involved? An oxygen tank (or other oxygen source)? I have not enough medical knowledge to know for certain if breathing is relevant, but the altitude is certainly relevant and the man didn't suffer suffocation

Sundowner:
Did he go to the mountains alone? with others? this
Was among the items he left in the hotel a map? a compass? a GPS receiver? nothing of these
Did he get lost in the mountains? no
Did he get AMS (acute mountain syndrome)? (but there is actually no item that could prevent AMS, the only way is to go up slower) no

RECAP & CLARIFICATIONS:
A man went to the mountains with friends. He wasn't hiking, what he was doing is yet unknown. He didn't wanted to get his possessions stolen, so he left three important things (one of which is a mobile phone) in his hotel room. Then something happened that put the man into the danger of death, at least a heavy disease, neither the AMS, nor the breathing problems. The lack of the things left made the situation much worse. It may be helpful to discover one more thing about the location and more about the danger. HINT: Having the objects in the mountains wouldn't prevent the danger strictly speaking. But...

HINT: Think of what use can be the mobile phone and passport to person having a heart attack. Think also, what else could that person need.

Shez:
money? credit card? insurance details? THIS

Doriana:
A dictionary? electronic translator? no, see above - but it's a good thought nevertheless. The man was absolutely incapable to speak ANY foreign language, what made his situation even worse.

All the pieces are on the table, just need to be put together.

A man is on a skiing holiday somewhere abroad. He leaves his passport, mobile phone and insurance details in the hotel because he doesn't want them to get stolen. But while he is skiing, he suffers a heart attack, and since he doesn't have the necessary things with him, he couldn't be taken to a hospital.
Correct?

Correct? almost, so here's the...

********SPOILER***********
A man is on a skiing holiday somewhere abroad. He leaves his passport, mobile phone and insurance details in the hotel because he doesn't want them to get stolen. But while he is skiing, he suffers a heart attack. His friends call the medical staff to him (luckily there was a kind of safety show at a place so there were many medical staff). One person of the group (Yours RedWine) goes with a man to the medical station, where she has to provide detailed personal data and insurance. (It happened to my mother's cousin's husband and I went to hospital with him being the only one person able to speak foreign languages). As the passport was left behind and I knew nothing but his name and the name of the place where he lived... It was a hard job to get all this information from almost unconscious man :-). I had to leave him my insurance card (we all had the same insurance) and my brother's mobile phone, to contact us.
That's the whole story. The man had to be finally transported by helicopter to bigger hospital, where he had an operation. Insurance company refused to pay for it. I had to switch off the phone due to helicopter transportation and we had another funny situation with doctor from the hospital, calling to get the code number to switch on the phone. And I was left lost in the middle of unknown, quite big area, without a mobile - we used one with my brother, decided to leave my one at home - and insurance :-)
