I'll start. Is she human? An adult? Is there something on her face? Blood? Food? Is she injured? Does she think she's injured? Is she surprised? Angry? Frustrated? Embarrassed? Shocked? Terrified? Sad? In mourning? Are there others involved or nearby? Is there a special reason why one would like to see her face, or should see it? |

So it was a kids book but it was meant to be a present for an adult, right? Did you tell the cashier to write a card (or add a card you've written) that contained a hint at the person being an adult? Like "congratulations to your graduation"? Or did you want the cashier to add something else that wasn't appropiate for children? Such as brandy-filled chocolates? Do we have to figure out the book title or the occasion for the present? Did you want her to gift-wrap the book? If not, did you - more or less directly - say that you could do it better? Or that you didn't like their paper or whatever else they used? Or that you didn't want the presentee to see where you bought the book (I haven't had anything gift-wrapped in forever, but I believe that some stores put a sticker with their logo and stuff on the wrapped-up present)? Or that it wasn't necessary because the presentee would shred the paper to pieces anyway? Or that you were in a hurry (or there was a long line of costumers behind you) and having the present packed would be too time-consuming? Or that you still had to do something to the book before it could be wrapped up? If you wanted her to gift-wrap it, did you make any requests as to how the present should be packed? And she considered it too elaborate? Or, if you asked for a certain kind of paper, was the paper you wanted unusual for the occasion? Like Christmas paper in spring? |

Out of left field, but was your answer something like... "It is the wrapping?" "It is wrapped?" |

Did you tell something usual, which she didn't understand at first? Or did you tell something what could be understood two different ways? Did you misunderstood or misheard the question? Did she misunderstood or misheard the answer? |

Did you say "I want to read it first"? almost, but I think it's close enough for the long-awaited ********SPOILER******** My nephew is turning 8 tomorrow and I got him a book with short stories about a group of soccer playing friends. After I had paid, the cashier asked me if I wanted her to wrap it as a present. Witty me said "No, thanks, it's for me". The poor cashier was surprised and terribly confused, and "you should have seen her face" - it was hilarious (: Nice work, everyone! |

I just realised I forgot to answer a bunch of questions - Sorry! Somehow, I couldn't post my answers when I first tried it, and then I accidentally deleted the other questions and answers ): And by the way, the book is wrapped, the card is written... and now I hope my nephew will like it cause he's not much of a reader. But an aunt's task is to give presents of educational value, lol. |
