Though Mason was a strong, able-bodied young man, Olivia caught him in a criminal act and was able to subdue him until police arrived using only one finger. How? Mason = HAM Olivia = HAF of middle to late age |

Is it relevant that Olivia is of middle to late age? Did she live in a home for the aged? Or a similar establishment? You answered "Did she use a taser gun to subdue him?" with "Nope", so... Was Mason unable to move? Or was he just trapped? Trapped in a corner? Due to something being in his way? Something that Olivia could move with her remote? Did she use the remote to move it from side to side depending on where Mason is about to go? Is it an electric wheelchair? If not, is the device she remotes the size of... a wristwatch? a cell phone? a Game Boy? a VCR? a toaster? a TV? a stove? a fridge? a car? Is the device harmless but seems threatening? Due to its looks? Or due to sounds it emits? Is Olivia able to call someone through the device? Or does it appear this way? Did the whole thing happen inside? Outside? |

So it's not a garage? Is it a garden? Porch? Balcony? Utility shed? Was Mason caught inside the room the door leads to? Did Olivia repeatedly press the button so that the door wouldn't fully close or open? Was the remote malfunctioning? Or the door itself? Did Olivia repeatedly press the button because she wanted the door to fully close? Could Olivia have done whatever she used the remote for manually? Or would it have put her in danger? Or required too much strength? Or wouldn't it be possible due to the way the door was built? |

***** SPOILER ***** This is based on a real news story (What a shock for one of my puzzles, I know!). A 19-year old was breaking into a car in a driveway when a neighbor spotted him and called the homeowner. The homeowner called police and, while remaining in the house, managed to trap the young man by pressing the “lock” button on the car remote every time he unlocked the doors and attempted to exit the vehicle. After a few attempts, the young man gave up and waited for police to arrive. Well played all! |
