This could be part of the famous "stupidity series" as well, so figure out what happened that made me think the following. Well, I hope it doesn't! |

Hmm... What else... Certain days? Certain times of the day? Certain passengers? A specific station? A certain point of view on the route? A river or lake? A bridge? The train ticket prices? Certain characteristics of the trains? Like their top speed, for example? Or something about their appearance? The other day, I read an article that, IIRC, dealt with an error during the planning of a railroad bridge. Only the weight of the train itself had been considered for that. They had forgotten to add the weight of the passengers and their luggage. Something like that? |

I think there might be an FA here, and I'll do a RECAP to help others join: Some days ago, I saw a TV show where someone pointed out something. I had seen/heard this something before and my reaction to it was "Well, I hope it doesn't". The whole thing is related to trains and (yope-ishly) to the route they take and their stops. |

Would a route change mean that the trains take longer to reach their destination? Because they have to cover a longer distance? Because they can't go as fast on the alternative route? Because a different kind of train has to be used? Because they have to stop at different/more stations? Because there's now more traffic than usual on the new route, so that the trains are more likely to "block" each other? Are waiting times at certain stations relevant? Having to change trains at some point? Whereas no change was necessary on the usual route? Do you live near a railroad? On the alternative route? So if more trains are on that route, you'll be exposed to more noise? Does a change of route mean that certain stations aren't served (that usually are)? Are they stations where you often get off or get on a train? |

Did you think that it was good that the train didn't stop there because ...the station is ugly (so that the people on the train won't have to see more of it than necessary)? ...the location of the station is ugly? ...the station is under construction? ...the station is busy as it is (so that one can do without the people who might've gotten off the train and walked around there)? ...the surroundings of the station are busy as they are? ...the train wouldn't block the platform by stopping there? If the train doesn't stop at the station, does it simply go through the station? Past the very platform at which it would have stopped? Or does it actually go around the station (so that people waiting there won't even see it)? Wild guess: Is the air stream of a passing train that people on the platform can feel relevant? Are noisy, drunken, obnoxious soccer fans relevant? xD |

Are these the stations the trains on that particular route(s) would not stop at anyway ? ( even without construction or whatever caused service interruption to other stations ) possibly - there are two cases: either these are stations were the train doesn't stop anyway, or there's construction etc. going on. The first one is more likely, though. Did you think that it was good that the train didn't stop there because ...the station is ugly (so that the people on the train won't have to see more of it than necessary)? ...the location of the station is ugly? ...the station is under construction? ...the station is busy as it is (so that one can do without the people who might've gotten off the train and walked around there)? ...the surroundings of the station are busy as they are? ...the train wouldn't block the platform by stopping there? none of these, there might still be an FA If the train doesn't stop at the station, does it simply go through the station? yes Past the very platform at which it would have stopped? possibly Or does it actually go around the station (so that people waiting there won't even see it)? no Wild guess: Is the air stream of a passing train that people on the platform can feel relevant? no Are noisy, drunken, obnoxious soccer fans relevant? xD lol, no! HINT: There seems to be an FA about stations that you should try to clear up. Train does not stop [name of a station]? (without preposition) no Train does not stop everywhere? (which essentially means, you cannot be sure whether it stops at your station) yep! Time for the ********SPOILER******** On the info screens at train stations it sometimes says "Train does not stop everywhere". It's obvious that they mean that the train does not stop on every station on its route. But you could be a smart ass and hope that it doesn't stop everywhere - I mean, would a train that stops everywhere move at all? I had thought about that wording before, but some weeks ago, a comedian pointed it out in a show and I was happy I was not the only one. |
