was it an entryphone system which wasn't working? Close enough for a SPOILER One time when I was in college, I promised to help a friend move, since I had a car and she was moving into my complex. We agreed to get started Saturday morning at 10. Being college students, we went out partying the previous night, and while I chugged a couple energy drinks and hauled myself over there only a little late, she was still passed out cold in bed. I thought to call and wake her up, but I had gotten caught in the rain and my phone got damaged, so I could only send texts. This was a significant problem given that the friend in question is blind. I tried texting anyway just in case it would make a sound on her phone, but she didn't have a texting plan (this was just before smartphones hit the mainstream) so that didn't work. I tried texting a mutual friend to have him call her, but he typically didn't wake up until noon on weekends so that got us nowhere as well. I couldn't knock on her door because her building had restricted access that required a certain RFID chip embedded in your student ID- which, not living in the building myself, I didn't have. There was a call box that you could use to ask an RA for access, which would have been great if it wasn't broken. This went on for about 45 minutes until I thought to just throw pebbles at her window and shout for her to wake up. | ||
