I'm going to do something I like, which will save money. Because of this, I anticipate having to spend money on something I don't like. Because of that, I've spent money on something I do like. And because of that, I'll also save money.

Is the following chronology correct?
1. you've spent money on something you like.
2. you will do something you like.
3. you will have to spend money on something you don't like.

Do the last "that" refer to this whole chain of events? to having spent money on something you like?

Is the first "something" an action?
Is the second "something" an object?
Is the third "something" an object?

1. you've spent money on something you like.

3. you will have to spend money on something you don't like.

Yesish, 3 will probably be before 2, but it's not that relevant.

Do the last "that" refer to this whole chain of events? No. to having spent money on something you like? Yes.

Is the first "something" an action? Yesish.
Is the second "something" an object? Yes.
Is the third "something" an object? Yes.

Are other people involved?
Does spending money on the objects mean buying them? Or acquiring otherwise which requires spending money?

You have already bought (or acquired otherwise) an object, which will save you money in future, correct? If yes, will it decrease your bills? Will you be able to avoid buying something else? Will you be able to avoid paying fees or something alike?

Will you travel somewhere using this new means of transport? Will you do any relevant sport? Will you take part in the contest?

Is your new motorized vehicle ready to use?

Do you anticipate having to spend money on fuel? To pay someone to fix the vehicle? To get driving licence for that type of vehicle?

Is it correct that you currently have one vehicle, and you are expecting to take possession of another? And is the thing you have bought an accessory for the vehicle you already have? Is the second vehicle a modification of the first one?

Is it correct that you currently have one vehicle, and you are expecting to take possession of another? Yes. And is the thing you have bought an accessory for the vehicle you already have? Yes. Is the second vehicle a modification of the first one? No.

Is the bike an electric bike? It will be, see below. A bike with a motor? Is the accessory you have bought a motor? Yes!

RECAP:
I'm going to do something I like (yet to be determined), which will save me money.

Because of this, I'll have to spend money on something I don't like. Hint: I don't like combustion engines.

Because of this, I've bought an electric motor for my bicycle.

And because of that, I'll save money on car fuel.

Is it correct to assume you don't currently have a car? Will you have to spend money on a car? Another motorised vehicle? On public transport? Will you have to buy a vehicle? Hire a vehicle? Use a taxi?

Do you intend to use your electric bicycle to save money on car fuel? If so, before you do the thing you like? While you are doing the thing you like? In order to do the thing that you like? Is saving money the thing you like? (that would be a very circular argument)

Is the thing that you are going to do a one-off thing? A regular action? An ongoing state?

Are you going to live further away from where you work than you currently do? Is the idea that when you do the thing, you will have to travel further on a regular basis so you are going to use your electric bike to avoid using your car? If so, does this mean that there is a reason we still need to discover why you are going to buy a car? If so, is the reason related to the other people?

Are you going to live further away from where you work than you currently do? Yes. Is the idea that when you do the thing, you will have to travel further on a regular basis so you are going to use your electric bike to avoid using your car? Yes. If so, does this mean that there is a reason we still need to discover why you are going to buy a car? If so, is the reason related to the other people? Yes, but you know enough for the
***SPOILER***

I'm going to do something I like: move to a house with my girlfriend. Her 14 year old daughter will live with us on alternate weeks, and we'll be getting a cat also.
This will save money: on rent, it is very much cheaper than living in town.
Because of this, I anticipate having to spend money on something I don't like: a car. I find combustion engines smelly and dirty.
Because of that, I've spent money on something I do like: an electric motor for my bicycle.
And because of that, I'll also save money: on car fuel.
---
During the span of this puzzle, I've returned the electric motor (the kit had about a dozen different manufacturing errors, which is too bad because it was really fun to ride when it worked), bought the car (I could afford a better one because of the money I got back for the motor), and packed almost all our stuff - we're moving this saturday.
I will buy another conversion kit for my bicycle some day, with the money I save on rent.

Thanks for playing!
