Are the men actors? Scientists? Researchers? Athletes? Did they dive for something? Did they try to break a record? Or go on a trip? Did they get famous for something that happened while they were on the boat? God, I have no clue about boats, but alas... Was the boat a rowing boat? A canoe? A kayak? A glass-bottom boat? A fishing boat? A barge? A freighter? A cruiser? |

Did the third man not get famous because he died? Because he was tricked? Because he was staying more in the background? |

incidentally, jrjabadu, it's easier for us to tell your answers when you put them in bold. The code for bolding text is \ b { text } (just remove the spaces, and put your answer in instead of "text".) Replace the b with an i for italics, u for underline. |

So Collins didn't become famous because unlike Armstrong and Aldrin, he didn't walk on the moon? But flew around the moon instead? |

perhaps the boat was what the astronauts got on after landing the craft post-space flight? YES, after landing in the Pacific Ocean 210 miles from the nearest island, the men were transported by helicopter individually to the USS Hornet, which was 15 miles from the landing site, where they were kept in quarantine for a few weeks (Nixon was there to greet them). The three of them got on the boat, but only two of them are now famous. Talk about being a third wheel! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_11#Splashdown_and_quarantine Puzzle solved! |

Welcome Jrjabadu (cool name by the way) I've always felt a bit sorry for Michael Collins who remains largely anonymous. However his name will live on forever in Ireland as he has the consolation of sharing a name with the most well know person in modern Irish history. |

All I know about Collins is that he was the third guy on the Apollo 11 mission and that he lost a camera in space. Nice puzzle Jrjabadu |
