Yes, I'm copy/pasting Redwine's recent puzzle statement, word for word (with a couple minor edits). Don't judge me. Besides, the solution is different. If they had paid more attention to their idea, the criminals wouldn't have succeeded. The concept is from a book and the book is humoristic - so don't be so serious :-) |

They = HAMs? HAFs? Mixed? Number relevant? If so, 2-5, 6-10, 11 -100? More? Same q's for the criminals. |

Did they unintentionally give the idea to the criminals? Would their idea have prevented crime from happening? Or caused the criminals to fail mid-crime? Did their idea involve the criminals? Was the idea an invention? An innovation of something that already existed? A method or process? |

Sorry for my vague answers; I'm not completely sure how to answer some of these. |

Is the specific crime relevant? [LTPF list of crimes]? Were "they" cops? Fellow criminals who were not involved in this crime? Did two bands of robbers try to rob the same bank at the same time? |

Did they somehow enticed the criminals to safeguard the bank so the criminals had to be in the public eye all the time? Did they put the criminals in jail before the robbery? |

RECAP: If they had paid more attention to their idea, the criminals wouldn't have succeeded. "They" are a sheriff and detective attempting to stop a bank robbery. However, their plan failed, as the criminals entered and exited the bank through a window. |

Did the robbers come through a window which the sheriff and detective failed to monitor because they didn't pay enough attention to the layout of the bank/forgot about this one window? So the robbers were able to climb in and out of this window? And the sheriff and the detective only realized this after the robbery occured? |

Yes: You know that the sheriff & detective knew the robbers would rob the bank. How? And just what was their plan? (Don't overthink it; it's very simple.) |

Actually, I think you've got it -- at least the part I asked for in the puzzle statement -- so **********SPOILER********** A sheriff & detective were trying to stop a bank robbery. The criminals had already robbed the bank once, and the S&D thought they would again. The detective came up with the idea of putting a sign up announcing that the new shipment of money had just arrived, then watching the doors so the criminals couldn't get in. Unfortunately the criminals robbed the bank anyway, entering and exiting through the windows. Nice work Redwine, and points to everyone else who worked on this. |
