If there was some task I would have taken care of, I wouldn't have to occasionally take the long way home. |

hehe :-) So could your question be reworded as, "If I had taken care of some task, I wouldn't have to occasionally take the long way home?" Is the long way preferable to the short way? Not preferable? Home from...the beach? =) From work? From work at the beach? (now that would be awesome) does your work involve cheeseburgers? (even more awesome, especially if it involves eating them on lunch break, IMO =) ) |

So could your question be reworded as, "If I had taken care of some task, I wouldn't have to occasionally take the long way home?" OK, for this puzzle let's say YES. Sometimes like to take the long way home just for the fun of rolling down windows and the moonroof, and winding around the twisties, but that's irrelevant to the puzzle. Is the long way preferable to the short way? Not preferable? Yope Home from...the beach? =) From work? From work at the beach? (now that would be awesome) That's on my bucket list! does your work involve cheeseburgers? Not at the moment - unless you have some job leads (even more awesome, especially if it involves eating them on lunch break, IMO =) Well that's what I meant actually - but of course if you know of a job opening that involves paying me to live on a beach house and eating cheezbergers, I will gladly send a resume to all interested parties. |

sadly I do not know of any job that involves paying to live in a beach house and eating cheezburgurz or I would do that too...*sigh* it would be nice to be paid for puzzling but we're not - I'm starting to think I need to be paying people to ask questions on my puzzles though. *sighs again* maybe kaylee kitteh is just the anxious type, hmm? |

Does it matter how close to the beach you live? does this puzzle take place in: North America? South America? Africa? Europe? Asia? Australia/Oceania? Antarctica? iz yuo a pengwin instead of a kitteh? =) |

Oh sorry, back to reality - just back home is the closest answer, although very occasionally it is a different destination. |

Sadly, the beach is not relevant to this puzzle, and even more sadly, cheezburgerz aren't either. But we have to put our brains to work - there must be someway someone can make money living on a beach and eating cheezburgers. Maybe we can make a living writing puzzles hidden inside cheezburgers or something. Does it matter how close to the beach you live? Sadly no does this puzzle take place in: North America? This South America? Africa? Europe? Asia? Australia/Oceania? Antarctica? iz yuo a pengwin instead of a kitteh? =) Which ever is is more entitled to a loan for a beach house. But sadly, I'm only HAM - reverse discrimination I say |

So sorry to get off the subject and cause confusion about my fictional beach house. However, if someone donates me a beach-house, then I can revise the puzzle accordingly, but as of now: I see I missed a question, and in fact the ride home from my non-beach job in a suburban office job is when I often decide to take the a longer way home than I need to. Could happen on other car trips too, but let's not confuse things further and we'll just say that it's my ride home from work that's relevant (and actually there's a hint in this last paragraph).

No need for it! Hopefully you're not serious but if you are, you have no reason at all for this! Maybe PM if you want.. |

What day is it, as in : Monday, Tuesday, etc... ? Or like a day in the calendar (1st of May, the Election Day...) ? Or maybe because of temperature or other environmental factors (a cold day, a sunny day...) Do you go to take your child from the school/ kindergarten? Your wife from her workplace? A friend from the bar? Is the location of your workplace relevant? (As in the suburbs as opposed to the town center) |

The task you should have taken care of... Personal/Home Chore? (Taking out the trash, etc.) Office Task? (Sending out mail, ordering parts, etc.) Government Imposed Task? (I.e. Taxes, voting, etc.) Social/Hobby Task? (Donating to Church, attending boy scout meetings, etc.) The long way... As opposed to the direct route from work to home? Does it take you past a relevant building? Relevant service? Relevant government office? Relevant store? Church? In order to fulfill this task, do you rely on yourself only? Are you dependent on somebody else completing their task first? Do you require somebody to assist you once the task is complete or near completion? |

does it actually matter which way you go when you do your detour? No HINT: The task that I need to do to avoid this needless driving needs to only be done once. In fact, since I'm doing odds and ends today, I might actually get to doing this task! |

HINT: I still haven't accomplished the task, but it wouldn't take that long to do. And I just heard something that leads me to indicate that doing the task might now (as opposed to a month or two ago) now solve the problem even more completely then it would have before (not _when_ I did the task, but just that that, having done the task at some point, it would now yield some more benefits). And the task involves using a computer. |

GPS in your car? Did you fail to pay the subscription fee? If so, are new or revised streets not recognized? Oooo, maybe it is something about the traffic warnings on the new GPS units? Is there construction on the roads between work and home? Accidents that cause delays? |

Do you have to drive more to catch a specific radio channel? Or just be in the car at a specific (maybe variable) time? So you can listen to some piece of info (sports scores?) that you couldn't get from TV/internet at home? Or you could get, but not as easily? |

Vene and Balin you both got it. ***SPOILER*** Yeah I have satellite radio in my car and if something interesting is on I sometimes drive aimlessly until it finishes. The cure of course, is to set it up to also listen from my PC. |
