Did the benefit have to do with your name? Something you had posted? something in your profile? Your pictures? permission to do something? what you see in your news feed? |

Do you have a Facabook account? Do you use it regularly? Is your benefit financial? A gain in information? Prestige? Ease of use? |

The FB update was a response to the emergence of Google+ ?? Was it that you can exclude some of your friends from reading certain posts? Other people could benefit the same way you did? |

Privacy settings - what other people can see about what you post? What you can see about what other people posts? What applications can see about you? What people not on your friends list can see? |

The FB update was a response to the emergence of Google+ ?? Was it? No matter, it's irrel Was it that you can exclude some of your friends from reading certain posts? Irrel Other people could benefit the same way you did? Probably not Privacy settings - what other people can see about what you post? What you can see about what other people posts? What applications can see about you? What people not on your friends list can see? All irrel. All that's relevant is that FB made a change to the privacy settings. |

Did you do the homework assignment before or after the privacy change? Was it returned to you by the teacher before or after the change? Did you dispute your grade on the assignment? Was the teacher unable to verify something you had written because the settings had changed between when you wrote it and when he/she graded it? |

So you were assigned homework about facebook's privacy settings? But you didn't do it? Did the privacy settings change: Before the assignment was assigned? After the other students completed it? After the other students turned it in? After the assignments were graded? Did the rest of the students have to redo the assignment due to the privacy setting changes? So your benefit was only having to do it once (since you skipped it the first time), instead of twice? Is the reason that you didn't do the assignment relevant. |

Did the privacy settings change after the assignment was assigned but before the other students completed it? Had other students started the assignment yet? Are subsequent exam questions relevant? Were there questions on an exam about Facebook privacy settings? Is the benefit you received grade related? |

Did the privacy settings change after the assignment was assigned but before the other students completed it? Sort of. We were given the assignment on a Tuesday and it had to be done by that Thursday. The settings were changed on that Wednesday so some students could have done this before the change, others after Had other students started the assignment yet? Yes Are subsequent exam questions relevant? Were there questions on an exam about Facebook privacy settings? No to both Is the benefit you received grade related? Not exactly |

Did you lie to your teacher? Did you say something truthful but misleading? For example, "I don't know what they are now that they've changed"? Yes, and I'll say this is close enough to spoyle. Or did you not say anything at all? **********SPOILER********** In one of my classes last year, we were assigned to look at Facebook's privacy settings for discussion the next class period. Between the two classes, however, Facebook changed their settings. As it turned out, I forgot to do the assignment. During that second class, I mentioned how the reason I had not changed my privacy settings was because I didn't know how the settings worked, and explained this by going through the new settings as someone unaware of how they worked. The professor pointed out, "Weren't you supposed to look at them?" I quickly responded with, "But they changed them." So I didn't get in trouble for not doing the assignment. Nice work everyone (Noel, Enjay...), new puzzle below. And don't try this at home... er, school. |
