A double puzzle. 1)When I was about 9 or 10, I had a scrund about horses. 2)I now know better, of course, but I have just learned that some horses can be trained to do something rather unusual - for a horse. |

2)like counting? No. The scrund - that ponies are baby horses? If I had that, it was a passive scrund. This was an active scrund, about a certain type of horse. |

Were they trained to do something which is quite common for a dog to be trained for? If so, is it: sit? fetch? beg? roll over? jump through a hoop? |

Was your scrund about the origin of the breed? No about some physical characteristics? yes about the meaning of the name? yes American Warm Blood? No American Quarter Horse? Yes! Any other breed with "American in its name? ***********SPOILER************* I realized that a quarter horse was not 1/4 the size of a 'regular' horse, but I somehow thought they were 1/4 less than the size of a regular horse - 3/4 horses. Not so far off, as they are not very tall, less than 16 hands as a rule. Of course, of course, they are called 'quarter horses' because they were bred to be especially fast in quarter-mile races, as I eventually discovered. Thx to Al, Balin, Noel, Doriana, and Sundowner, who brought it down to the finish line! |
