A couple of years ago, I invited some people to measure the width of something that was in fact, invisible.. completely transparent. I still have it in my desk, carefully wrapped and labelled. What is it? |

Reason why they were invited to measure it relevant? Actual width relevant? Is it something you can buy? eat? plant? wear? play with? make yourself? drop without breaking? give your mother as a gift? give your sweetheart as a gift? give a child as a gift? give your boss as a gift? give anyone as a gift? |

Ok, I don't think this puzzle is going to work... It was part of an April Fools day joke. It think it will be impossible to answer questions in any kind of coherent sense. And it's kind of industry-specific. Sorry. |

Ok, since you asked, Galfisk, not the bandwidth. Simply the width of this object. It was intended to be an actual, physical, object. Maybe when I have some time I might keep this going, or just spoil... |

Ok, well, I was hesitant to post this because it related to my job which is in a very nich industry, but I suppose I can reroute the puzzle into more general terms. So go. |

So it's a fictional item? Like a snipe in a snipe hunt? Not like in a Snipe hunt. This imaginary item was officially labeled and seald in a bag. As an aside Snipes are real in the sense that the Snipe is a one-design sailboat - I was a member of a sailing club that had good Snipe fleet, we had an award winning Snipe crew. Close to the end now I think |

Is the packaging of the "object" relevant? Was an actual measurement made? Is guessing involved? |

Can the object exist for real? Or can it only exist in one's imagination? Numbers relevant? Imaginary numbers? Did you fool someone to think an actual object was in the bag? Or did they understand that it was imaginary when you invited them to measure it? |

Sorry for being away for a while So is there a real-world version of this object? Yesish Is it simply a packaged NOTHING? YES ******** SPOILER ********* The company I work for is in the business of industrial measurement systems. We often get samples of products from prospective customers so we can verify that there won't be any problems before we sell equipment. As an April fools joke I labelled an empty plastic bag and sent it to the application study department, along with an email saying that the product was invisible, and we are under a non-disclosure-agreement about the process, and to be VERY CAREFUL not to lose it! |
