As a child, I would often spend the night at my grandparents' place. When I was about 5 years old, I got a bed of my own in their spare bedroom, instead of sharing the bed with them. However, after a couple of months, I decided to sleep in their bed again. How come?

Did you feel anything unusual? Did something scare you? Was it too: cold? Lonely? Dark? Uncomfortable? Scary? Dangerous? Far away? Too far from something? Such as the toilet? Is something on the way to/from the bed relevant? If so: something in the same room as the bed? Something else? Is something outside the house relevant?

Or, possibly, did they keep a television on, which helped put you back to sleep?

And, thinking of sounds... I remember sleeping at my own grandma's place and being woken by the sound of the rooster, which I couldn't hear in her bedroom. You were asked if there had been an unusual noise. Was there a USUAL noise?

So you saw a documentary about raccoons which informed you that they can carry rabies, and that they are known to enter houses? And you were scared that one would come into your room and infect you, so moved back to your grandparents' bed?
Is there more? Did the documentary give a specific example of a raccoon infecting someone? Of a raccoon entering a house? Did it say it was a particular risk in your area?

Is there more? yes, there is a minor detail - something that makes perfect sense for a 5-year-old, but not for an adult Did the documentary give a specific example of a raccoon infecting someone? Of a raccoon entering a house? Did it say it was a particular risk in your area? no to these, it's simpler

Did you try to 'trap' the would-be offender by moving out of your room but letting, let's say, the windows open, so that you can discover the next morning traces of the animal in your bedroom?

Did you explain to your grandparents the reason for moving out? Relevant?

The minor detail remaining -- is it a characteristic of the species? If so, a real one, or a miconception? Would have you acted in the same way if there were foxes involved (provided that you also had seen a documentary saying that they are known to carry diseases and use to enter the rooms)? What if the animals involved were bears - same reaction?

The minor detail has nothing to do with the animal itself, but with the circumstances. HINT: I only did this at my grandparents' place, not at home. One reason was that I thought my room at their place was easily accesible, the other reason was...

Relevant aspect of thinking like a five year old - that you think things are scarier than they really are? Bigger than they really are? You think adults are superheroes? That animals have personalities and act like humans? That if you can't see something it won't bother you? That everyone must feel/act the way you do? Eg you really liked your grandparents' house, so you figured the raccoons would too?

Relevant aspect of thinking like a five year old - that you think things are scarier than they really are? Bigger than they really are? You think adults are superheroes? That animals have personalities and act like humans? That if you can't see something it won't bother you? this is somewhat OTRT That everyone must feel/act the way you do? Eg you really liked your grandparents' house, so you figured the raccoons would too? no to all others. Find out to what aspect of the whole story the detail is related

Is it related to your grandparents themselves? Some aspect of their house? Of your bedroom in their house? Of their bedroom? Of your parents' home? Your parents? The raccoons' reason for being present around your grandparents' house? Their ease of access to your bedroom? Their desire to enter your bedroom? The harm they could cause when in your bedroom? The increased safety that you would gain by moving to your grandparents' room?

The raccoons' reason for being present around your grandparents' house? This is closest, but I was referring to yet another thing Their ease of access to your bedroom? Their desire to enter your bedroom? The harm they could cause when in your bedroom? The increased safety that you would gain by moving to your grandparents' room?

HINT: The story would have been the same had the documentary been about, let's say, aliens, burglars or the mafia.

Did you think your grandparents' neighbours were also "in danger"? Or only your grandparents' house?

Is the place where your grandparents are living relevant? its geographical location? places, buildings, things nearby? its name? no to all

You're all OTWT and making things more complicated than they actually are =) Think of something that kids might have trouble understanding, but adults don't.

Did you think that something at your grandparents' house can attract racoons? Did you think the racoons know when you're inside?
Did the documentary mention reasons why racoons attack houses? Is that relevant?

Did the documentary mention reasons why racoons attack houses? no Is that relevant? no, but something about the documentary is relevant - and, HINT, it's not related to its content.

Relevant aspect of thinking like a five year old - that children think they're "the center of the universe"?

Relevant aspect of the documentary: where you were when you watched it? who told you to watch it? with whom you were?

Did you watch the documentary at your grandparent's place? Did you, therefore, think the racoons were around there, but not around your own home?

Did you watch the documentary at your grandparent's place? yes! Did you, therefore, think the racoons were around there, but not around your own home? yes! Finally I can declare the

********SPOILER********

When I was about five years old and had just got used to sleeping in a bed of my own at my grandparents' place, my grandpa watched a documentary about racoons on TV. Being a curious child, I joined him. They said all sorts of things about racoons, but I only remembered two of them: That they carry rabies and that they can climb up sewage systems to gain access to houses.

My bedroom at my grandparents' place was right next to the bathroom, so I figured they would bite me first in case they made it to the first floor. Also, the danger only existed at their house because I had watched the documentary there and therefore assumed they would only be around there, not around my place. That's why I moved back to my grandparents' room.

Thanks for playing and for your patience, well done =)
