The next time I buy a new car, it may save me money to buy it from 200 miles away.

If how I understand it is correct, almost 200 miles due south. But even if I'm wrong you should be able to get the theme of the puzzle

Oh, and hello Katy Hello to you too!

Is there something about the place where you would buy the car that is relevant? Are weather conditions or topography relevant?

Could it be any place that is 200 miles to the south? if no: do the places that qualify for buying a car there have some common geographic characteristic? are they in another country? another state? on an island?

Are the cars sold at cheaper price there? (if so: any car? only specific cars? only one particular car?) or did you have some extra expenses this time which won't be there when you buy at this place 200 miles away?

Could it be any place that is 200 miles to the south? No - good question if no: do the places that qualify for buying a car there have some common geographic characteristic? Not really are they in another country? another state? on an island? No

Are the cars sold at cheaper price there? Noish...or yesish...explore (if so: any car? only specific cars? Thisish only one particular car? No) or did you have some extra expenses this time which won't be there when you buy at this place 200 miles away? Yes! ish!

This is a silly puzzle. This situation would only apply if I wanted something in particular

Merry Christmas everyone!

Does it have anything to do with the fact that when you want to buy a new car it will be only because the car you have now is totaled and you are like "oh my good golly gosh I gotta get a car!" so you save money by buying the car that was new at the time that you were traveling to buy it, but the time you get there 20 years has passed so it is not worth as much anymore?

no, sorry

HINT: The exact type of car I want to buy is not relevant. But there will be something on it that is

200 miles away from where you bought last car?
200 miles away from your home?
200 miles away from where you are at the moment?
are you or your home at a unique position?

Are you saving by driving old car to 200 miles as against paying a lot for going there if you did not have your own car?
Are the savings on 'cost of car'? Or savings are somewhere else like saving on expences made before or after buying?
Does distance matter? Can you possibly save if the said distance was 300 miles?
Anything to do with fact that you already have one car - i mean, if you did not have a car, could you still save?

Are number plates always cheaper in Luton? only particular ones? only the one you want? Do you want to keep the old number plate? your old number plate? Does a Luton number plate entitle you to something? (like free parking in Luton?)
Any tax or registration fee on number plates relevant? Is the insurance cheaper for a car with a number plate of Luton?
Katy (Katy)

This car has a feature that I may want in the future (may or may not - probably not though :)) If I buy the car from my local dealer and this item separately then it could cost me a few hundred pouns for the item. If I travelled about 200 miles from home, to Luton, the item would come free with the car.
It's not a 'special offer' particular to a place in Luton or anything like that. It has to do with the registration plate. And none of this would have applied 5 years ago

*********** SPOILER *************

If I wanted a personalised number plate displaying my initials (KF) on my next car, I could buy one - costing me a few hundred pounds - or I could buy a car registered in Luton which would begin with KA, KB, KC, KD, KE, KF, ...KL (I'd have to keep my fingers crossed I got a KF one!) and that would be the usual price!

(OK, silly puzzle I know)

I don't think it's silly, but then, I am stalking you...

In all seriousness, I like it (and I didn't even solve it myself).

Of course, I didn't know your initials (well, I never said I was
good at stalking,,,)

Thank you!

My initials are changing to KT soon, as I'm getting married, so I'll have to trade the new car in in Northampton apparently.

This is all getting very complicated!

Best wishes! Hmmm...I suppose I'll have to consult the Stalker's Guidebook about stalking married/affianced women now...:O

In the U. S. the tags differ from one state to another, both in terms of general appearance (colors, graphics etc.) and number schemes (although they're all a standard size with standard expiration markings).

In California it started with a simple three-letter three-number setup (e. g. AAA 123) which is sequentially updated (i. e. as each request for a new plate comes through they give out the next one, cycling through each digit/letter). Some years back they had to add a number on the front (e. g. 1 AAA 123--when I bought my car in 2000 it was up to 4, I think it's at 5 now). I believe personalized plates are available in all states, too.

But then, we've got 5.3 cars for every man, woman and infink here.
