***************** SPOILER ******************** The picture represents an Akan (African) proverb. The proverb says “Akodaa bo nwa ommo akyekyedee.” The literal translation: “The child is capable of splitting open the snail, not the tortoise.” The underlying message is, one must be given the task within his/her ability. Or, one should recognize one's limitations before embarking any task.  As Ixoye correctly pointed out I posted an Akan Proverb about 2 years ago. Here is another one. I find it interesting to compare proverbs like this with any proverbs or principles that we may be more familiar with. I can think of two Biblical principles that are linked, somewhat. Can you think of anything more closely related to this Akan Proverb? Luke 14: 28-30 Conveys the idea that we should count the cost before embarking on a project to assess if we have the necessary resources to complete it. Galatians 6: 4-5 Tells us to not compare our ability with that of others but to focus on our own ability and responsibilities. | ||
