Wild guess: someone using a beta version of Mozilla Thunderbird didn't get an email worm? Wow! Why is it that the best guesses are never the ones that I thought of in the first place? Unfortunately no, it isn't that. |

A person = You? male? human? adult? someone famous? Did this person fail to achieve something? buy something? did they misunderstand something? Is an object involved? |

This person was early? Early to get to a place? To do a certain thing? Would they have gotten the worm had they been there later? |

A person = You? male? human? adult? someone famous? not me - irrelevant otherwise Did this person fail to achieve something? no buy something? no did they misunderstand something? no Is an object involved? yesish Did the early bird want to get the worm? good question...difficult to answer at this stage - no, he didn't, because he didn't know that he would get the worm if he wasn't so early This person was early? yes Early to get to a place? yes To do a certain thing? yes, connecting with previous answer Would they have gotten the worm had they been there later? yes!, but not necessarily... Early Bird= first person to arrive somewhere? yes first person to attempt something? no first person to actually do something? yes, connected with previous answers person who intended to do something? yes, connected with previous answer Or Early as opposed to late? yes! as opposed to later? yes! the Worm = a tangible thing? yes a prize? praise? fame? no to these Very good questions, I think some major progress was made there. |

Is airline travel at all relevant? Was this place he arrived early at somewhere they went frequently? once in a while? had never been before? The worm? A ticket? something electrical? a non-human animal? a vehicle? Did this person have a relevant profession? Did they not get the worm because they were TOO early? |

A ticket? something electrical? a non-human animal? a vehicle? no to all of these Did this person have a relevant profession? no Did they not get the worm because they were TOO early? no |

Oooo-kay. Was he early only in the sense that he wasn't late? Was he in fact right on time, even though he was the first person there? The worm: He didn't know that he wouldn't get it by being early; did he even know that it existed? Did anyone get the worm? If yes, did they want it? Did they know that it existed before they got it? Was it some sort of a thing given as a reward for being the nth person to do whatever it was? and he was the (n-x)th person? |

Fishing relevant at all? no Worm = computer virus? no The 'worm' isn't anything which has the name 'worm'. It's a metaphor for something else. Was he early only in the sense that he wasn't late? Was he in fact right on time, even though he was the first person there? I think we're all getting confused - there was no 'right on time' - 'early' meant that it was early on in the day, and 'late' meant that it was later on in the day. The worm: He didn't know that he wouldn't get it by being early; did he even know that it existed? difficult to answer - he knew that the object itself existed, but he didn't know that it would become the 'worm' for the later person Did anyone get the worm? yes If yes, did they want it? see next answer Did they know that it existed before they got it? no Was it some sort of a thing given as a reward for being the nth person to do whatever it was? and he was the (n-x)th person? no It would probably help to discover the context in which this event occurs |

Is the "worm" alive? organic? Would the early bird have been pleased if he had gotten the worm? Was the later bird pleased to get it? The place where the birds arrived: outdoors? indoors? a building? a home? a place of business? Was the worm in this place when the early bird arrived? when the later bird arrived? Is the time of day relevant? daylight relevant? is he early in the day? or early relative to some other event? |

Let me check something here... Is Birdy's earlyness the only reason that he didn't get the worm? A major part of the reason that he didn't get the worm? A minor part of the reason that he didn't get the worm? No part of the reason that he didn't get the worm? Same questions for the later arrival, if you would be so kind? A place of business= A retail store? a wholesale store? a restaurant? an airport or other transportation hub? a factory? a warehouse? an office? if an office, then the office of a service company? a bank? a lawyer? a doctor? an accountant? |

Sorry for my un-punctuality in answering, but I thought that I had answered them... Let me check something here... Is Birdy's earlyness the only reason that he didn't get the worm? yes A major part of the reason that he didn't get the worm? A minor part of the reason that he didn't get the worm? No part of the reason that he didn't get the worm? Same questions for the later arrival, if you would be so kind? his lateness is the only reason that he got the worm A place of business= A retail store? a wholesale store? a restaurant? an airport or other transportation hub? a factory? a warehouse? an office? this is closest, yes if an office, then the office of a service company? a bank? a lawyer? a doctor? an accountant? None of these - I'll explain it. It's an adult learning centre - a room for people to come in and study at their own time (hence the possibility of coming in 'earlier' and 'later'), there would also be an office next door for the manager to work when not giving help. |

Was Birdy still there when Latey got the worm? yes Was the worm given to Latey by the manager? yes... Was the worm a book? or something related to learning? only vaguely related to learning - but is used in many other situations too Was the worm: Something: electrical? mechanical? edible? ornamental? functional? yes of considerable monetary value? educational? no to the others Hint: You are almost definitely using / able to use one right now. |

A new computer? a new monitor? a new keyboard? Anything computer related? New software of some sort? Was Latey allowed to keep the worm? Did Latey get the worm because it was only then available? (Something that was delivered to the centre after Birdy arrived? Or was installed after Birdy arrived?) |

The manager was in his office earlier in the day? because the centre was quiet? and he didn't need to help anyone? so Birdy got to use part of the main public area? But later it was more busy? and he was in the centre helping someone? so Latey got to use the manager's office? Which was nice and comfortable? or quiet? |
