Did Ms Garbo merely eat the grass? Or did she gobble it?

Okay so Greta Garbo ate grass? was there anything in the grass that is relevant? she she eat anything else? are there any other relevant people involved?

Would this puzzle have worked if we were talking about Ingrid bergman instead?

Was she offered grass? did she ask for grass?

Did Ms Garbo merely eat the grass? yes, for a slightly more precise value of "grass" Or did she gobble it? no, and I am curious as to what might have prompted this thought :)

Okay so Greta Garbo ate grass? yes, again for a slightly more precise value of "grass" was there anything in the grass that is relevant? not anything more relevant than that it was grass she she eat anything else? no are there any other relevant people involved? on the contrary...

Would this puzzle have worked if we were talking about Ingrid bergman instead? no

Was she offered grass? no did she ask for grass? she took it upon herself to eat some part of the plant commonly known as "grass", yes

Did she eat actual green leafy grass or grass seeds? Did she say anything? make a statement? ask a question? Is her accent relevant? Is there something about her name which is relevant?

Oh, I don't know - "Greta Garbo gobbles grass" sounded funny enough in my head that I thought it might be the basis for some sort of joke. But I will let Pandora get on with her most admirable effort on this one, and submit no further distractions.

Something that rhymes with grass? no

Blade?
Seed?
Green?
Leaf/leaves? none of these - remember that this is common-or-garden grass...

Did she want something to happen? yesish to her? yes did she hope to feel something? no not really an emotion? no - but she was trying to achieve that for which she had hoped...

Is the phrase "I want to be alone" at all relevant? using ' A lawn' as a pun for 'alone' perhaps?

Is the phrase "I want to be alone" at all relevant? using ' A lawn' as a pun for 'alone' perhaps? exactly and precisely so - well done :)

***** SPOILER *****

"Miss Garbo, why are you eating grass seed?"
"Because I vant to be a lawn."

Garbo in fact denied that she had ever said "I want to be alone", merely that "I want to be left alone. There is a whole world of difference". But the original line was included in the script of the film Grand Hotel, where she was forced to repeat it for the cameras.

Of course, her Swedish accent gave rise to the Friday afternoon puzzle above, in which the great actress attempts to achieve her objective by means of a rather strange diet.

Well done Pandora, despite various distractions from others who dropped by :)
