By Lisa (Dlcygnet) on Monday, August 22, 2005 - 03:28 am: Was this part of a children's story? not really Was this part of a joke? YES! Does this story/joke involve a cat finally getting his heart's desire? possibly, but not necessarily in those words |

So we have to figure out what the joke was? Cat sees mouse rollerskating and exclaims something about meals on wheels!? do we have to figure out how the cat caught the mouse? did the mouse rollerskate right up to the cat? did he want to be eaten? did a store sell meals on wheels? |

Cat sees mouse rollerskating and exclaims something about meals on wheels!? YES(ish)! now a small lateral hop from that concept, and one small related detail... do we have to figure out how the cat caught the mouse? not really did the mouse rollerskate right up to the cat? irrel. did he want to be eaten? probably not did a store sell meals on wheels? no, and a slight FA here which is most of what keeping the other small related detail from coming to the surface... |

small related detail is related to the mouse? to the cat? to something else entirely? did the cat ever get to eat the mouse? important? was it backwards? was the cat on wheels and the mouse exclaiming about the cat? |

By Jennifer Warde (Tigger32382) on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 - 09:38 pm: is the other detail related to the setting they're in? Absolutely!!! good question! the time period? {no, time itself is irrelevant (a hint in itself, quite likely... explore...} a third character? there is a third "character", whose identity would be VERY likely to $ p o i l this puzzle... the context of the joke? only as relates to your other two questions, which actually made a LOT of progress if you can catch the right lateral hop from here... |

Is "character" in quotation marks because it is not a person? Is it an animal? Is it a living thing (within the context of the joke?) Is it an object? An object that resembles a living thing? Is time irrelevant because they are perpetually doing the same thing? Or because it's always mealtime? Are watches or clocks in any way relevant? Is that phrase a clue to the third character? |

By Jennifer Warde (Tigger32382) on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 - 01:23 am: were the cats supposed to eat the mice? or did they just take that into their own hand? this one! (paws? or this one... SPOILER!!!!! One day a cat dies of natural causes and goes to Heaven. There he meets the Lord himself. The Lord says to the cat, "You lived a good life and if there is any way I can make your stay in Heaven more comfortable, please let Me know." The cat thinks for a moment and says, "Lord, all my life I have lived with a poor family and had to sleep on a hard wooden floor." The Lord stops the cat and says, "Say no more," and a wonderful fluffy pillow appears. A few days later six mice are killed in a tragic farming accident and go to Heaven. Again the Lord is there to greet them with the same offer. The mice answer, "All of our lives we have been chased. We have had to run from cats, dogs, and even women with brooms. Running, running, running; we're tired of running. Do you think we could have roller skates so we don't have to run anymore?" The Lord says, "Say no more," and fits each mouse with beautiful new roller skates. About a week later the Lord stops by to see the cat and finds him in a deep sleep on the pillow. The Lord gently wakes the cat and asks him, "How are things since you arrived?" The cat stretches and yawns and replies, "It's wonderful here. Better than I could have ever expected. And those Meals on Wheels you've been sending by are theeeeeeee best!!!" |
