Is it related to a particular website?
Is it something to do with html/java?
Ts it a feature of an internet browser?

Hi, Katy! Nice to see some old "faces" around when one occationally pops in!

When you say you're sad, do you mean you are depressed, or do you mean you're pathetic?

Oh, sorry, that was rather off-topic.

Is a web auction at all relevant?
Is the LTPF relevant (apart from hosting your puzzle)?
Would "it" be impossible to do without an internet connection?
Does "it" have to do with some standard web GUI feature? (Clicking the back button, recognising a hyperlink because it's blue and underlined etc.)?

Oh, sorry, that was rather off-topic. No, not at all. I mean that I am quite pathetic for being interested in this, or finding it interesting. Maybe everyone else when they find out will say "So what?", which is what I'm worried about

No, and I probably should have answered 'Yes' to selling and buying relevant, sorry. It's nothing to do with selling or buying directly, but wouldn't happen if people didn't sell or buy on ebay

Is this something one can do on the ebay web site?
If so, directly on the homepage, www.ebay.com?
Does one have to be registered as an ebay customer to do it?
Is this something rather on the nerdy side?
Does one need specialised knowledge in order to do it?

This is to do with a specific thing 'X' that people do on ebay. This can lead to a situation 'Y' on another person, which I was surprised to learn is possible. Answering your questions for 'X' makes most sense

Is this something rather on the nerdy side? Erm...yes and no. I would say that 95% of ebay people do it
Does one need specialised knowledge in order to do it? You probably need to have used ebay or have an idea of how the process works. You don't need to be an ebay expert by any means (I'm not!)

Anything to do with:
Favourites?
The hits counter?
The bids recorded?
Last moment bidding?
Emails?
Spoofs?
Questions to sellers?

Can this be observed / take place if you are a passive observer i.e. not the buyer, bidder or seller?

So it's to do with the fact that a buyer / seller posts feedback on the other person. A certain situation can occur where the feedbackee (new word, copyright Katy!) .........

Either of these aspects relevant?

One giving a positive and the other giving negative?

Comments made with 2nd and even 3rd responses to the original feedback posted?

*********** SPOILER *******************
I was interested to see that it's possible to have a feedback score of -1 as an ebay member

Yes it's quite funny when you see that. I recall someone with a feedback score of -4 who bidded on an item I was selling.

I have been aware of some punters on eBay who seem to take pleasure from messing about. I experienced one person who made a rash of high bids on scores, or maybe hundreds of items with no itention of making payment. He just wanted to create inconvenience or mayhem if he could - a sort of eBay vandalism I suppose. He would have picked up a string of negative feedbacks, leaving him with a negative score.

Take comfort - you're not the only eBay nerd / anorak on the forum :-)
