There was demolition going on across the street. The wrecking ball came loose during the backswing and crashed into their apartment just after they stepped into the hot tub... A person practicing golf on the roof of a nearby building hit one that went awry--it crashed through their window and proceeded to impact the wall with enough force to break some pipes (which had been done in a sub-standard fashion). One of the pipes was a water pipe, but the other was a gas pipe... Jack and Jill are plants; the ball was dropped by the boy who had been hired to water them while the occupants were on holiday after he inadvertantly broke their fancy indoor water feature with his baseball bat (which he had been carrying along with the ball and his other paraphernalia); he was afraid to go back and they perished. |

This puzzle was the first LTP I ever heard. My introduction to them so to speak. That was 32 years ago. |
